Capitals' Michael Sgarbossa: Sent down by Washington
Sgarbossa was returned to AHL Hershey on Monday.
Sgarbossa spent a week with the NHL club and averaged 8:18 of ice time over two appearances with the Capitals. He should have more consistent opportunities to contribute in the AHL.

Capitals' Brandon Duhaime: Nets goal in defeat
Duhaime scored his second goal of the season in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Hurricanes.
Duhaime put Washington up 2-1 at 19:49 of the first period after being set up by Nic Dowd. Duhaime offered three shots, one block and two hits in 13:44 of ice time. The left-shot forward has chipped in two goals and two assists across 11 outings in his first campaign with Washington, and he's filling a fourth-line role while seeing time on the penalty kill. Duhaime's career high in points is 17 from the 2021-22 campaign with Minnesota, so the 27-year-old doesn't offer much fantasy value outside of formats that reward non-scoring production.

Capitals' John Carlson: Banks assist Sunday
Carlson registered a power-play assist in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Hurricanes.
Carlson picked up his third point in four games by setting up Alex Ovechkin on the man advantage in the opening frame. Carlson has been held off the scoresheet only three times through 11 contests, and he leads Washington's blueliners in points with nine. The 34-year-old generated 52 points while skating in all 82 regular-season games in 2023-24, and if he can stay healthy again, he's on pace to easily surpass that output. Carlson's 25:56 of ice time per game comfortably leads the team.

Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Extends goal-scoring streak in loss
Ovechkin scored a power-play goal in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Carolina.
Ovechkin scored his seventh goal of the season from his vintage spot on the man advantage in the first period to tie the game at 1-1. It was his first power-play marker of the 2024-25 campaign. The 39-year-old winger has racked up five goals and four assists during his current four-game point streak. Ovechkin is second on the team in points with 14 (seven goals, seven assists) through 11 games, trailing only Dylan Strome (17).

Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Falls to Carolina on Sunday
Lindgren made 41 saves on 44 shots in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Hurricanes. Carolina's final goal was scored into an empty net.
Lindgren performed admirably to keep the game competitive, but the Caps were thoroughly outplayed by Carolina in the loss. The Minnesota native has allowed nine goals over his last three appearances while being tagged with two losses during that span. Lindgren sports a 3-3-0 record, .896 save percentage and 2.70 GAA through six outings.

Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Starting in Carolina
Lindgren will guard the road net Sunday against the Hurricanes, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.
Lindgren's gone 3-2-0 with a subpar .882 save percentage while splitting starts with Logan Thompson this year. Lindgren will have a tough matchup with a Carolina team that's averaging 3.89 goals per game.

Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Provides assist in win
Sandin notched an assist, four blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Jakob Chychrun (upper body) landed on injured reserve Saturday, so Sandin is in line for a larger role. He saw 20:37 of ice time in the blowout win -- that's his second-highest total in 10 contests this season. Sandin has five helpers, 11 shots on net, 26 blocked shots, 12 hits and a plus-7 rating so far, and if he can stay on the second power-play unit, he should have an easier path to offense.

Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Records helper Saturday
Lapierre notched an assist and blocked two shots in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Lapierre returned from a two-game stint as a healthy scratch, replacing Michael Sgarbossa in the lineup. The helper was Lapierre's first point in eight outings this season. The 22-year-old has added six shots on net, seven blocked shots, four hits, four PIM and a minus-5 rating. He's unlikely to see much more than bottom-six minutes as the Capitals have found success with their top-six combinations early on.

Capitals' Nic Dowd: Tallies in blowout win
Dowd scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Dowd has scored in four of the last six games. His tally Saturday was the Capitals' fifth in a first-period blitz that gave them plenty of offense in the win. The 34-year-old center is up to five points, 16 shots on net, 21 hits, 12 blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-7 rating through 10 contests. Dowd should continue to provide decent depth scoring in a bottom-six role, though his pace is likely to slow down since he's never had more than 25 points in a single campaign.

Capitals' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Bags apple in victory
Dubois tallied an assist and blocked two shots during Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Dubois has fit nicely in his new home, posting a goal and six points in 10 games. The 26-year-old pivot is out to prove he can still be an impact player at the NHL level and should find the scoresheet more regularly as the season unfolds.

Capitals' Andrew Mangiapane: Ends scoring slump
Mangiapane tallied a goal and two shots during Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
The goal ends a four-game pointless streak for Mangiapane, who has been moved to the third line alongside Hendrix Lapierre and Jakub Vrana in recent outings. The 28-year-old Mangiapane must become a more consistent offensive producer to move back into Washington's crowded top six and establish broader fantasy appeal for himself.

Capitals' Aliaksei Protas: Notches two points in blowout win
Protas tallied a goal and an assist while logging 15:19 of ice time during Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Protas has three consecutive multi-point outings and has managed 11 points in 10 games to start the season. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound winger has flourished since being promoted to the top line alongside Alex Ovechkin and Dylan Strome. Protas could break out offensively in 2024-25 if he can maintain a top-six role on the scorching-hot Capitals.

Capitals' Connor McMichael: Extends goal spree to three games
McMichael tallied two goals and four shots during Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
McMichael has been on a tear to start the season and is now the team leader with seven goals. He also ranks third on the club in points (12) behind Dylan Strome and Alex Ovechkin. The 23-year-old McMichael is breaking out in 2024-25 and should be picked up in just about any format. He could be a superb long-term fantasy addition if his hot streak continues.

Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Keeps climbing ladder
Ovechkin tallied a goal, two assists and four shots during Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Ovechkin is 35 goals away from tying Wayne Gretzky on the all-time list. The 39-year-old Ovechkin has three consecutive multi-point performances. After a sluggish start, he is up to six goals and 13 points through 10 outings and is once again a hot commodity in any fantasy format.

Capitals' Logan Thompson: Stellar in win
Thompson turned aside 34 of 36 shots in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Despite being staked to a 5-0 lead after the first period, Thompson had to endure an onslaught of 31 shots from the Blue Jackets in the final 40 minutes. The 27-year-old has a spotless 5-0-0 record in his first five games with the Capitals, but he has been locked into a starting rotation with Charlie Lindgren. Thompson is worth an add in deeper leagues and is one of the better spot starts in any format during Washigton's hot start to 2024-25.

Capitals' Dylan Strome: Another multi-point night
Strome tallied a goal, two assists, a plus-4 rating and two shots during Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Strome has been on fire with three consecutive multi-point appearances and has been held off the scoresheet only once this season. With 16 points in 10 games, Strome is a must-start in all formats until his hot streak begins to fade.

Capitals' Logan Thompson: Set to start Saturday
Thompson is expected to guard the home net against Columbus on Saturday, per Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network.
Thompson has a 4-0-0 record, but that's largely due to the offensive support he's received. The 27-year-old netminder has surrendered at least three goals in three of his four starts, leaving him with a 3.21 GAA and an .876 save percentage this season. The Blue Jackets rank ninth offensively with 3.70 goals per game.
