  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Still sidelined versus Flames

Karlsson (lower body) will not be in action versus Calgary on Wednesday but did practice in a regular jersey, Josh Yohe of The Athletic reports.

Karlsson will be out of action for his fifth straight contest due to his lower-body injury. Still, it seems the blueliner is making progress and could be back sooner rather than later. Since the Christmas break, Karlsson has been producing offensively with one goal and six assists, including three power-play points, in eight outings.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Suffers upper-body injury

Letang missed practice Tuesday because of an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day.

Letang has been rolling offensively in 10 games since the calendar flipped to 2026, posting one goal, five assists and 13 shots while averaging 23:35 of ice time. If the veteran blueliner does miss Wednesday's clash with Calgary, it could be an opportunity for new addition Ilya Solovyov to make his Penguins debut -- though Jack St. Ivany will also be in the mix.

  • Penguins' Ilya Solovyov: Joins via trade

Solovyov was acquired by the Penguins from the Avalanche on Tuesday in exchange for Valtteri Puustinen and a 2026 seventh-round pick.

Solovyov's acquisition could be an indication that both Erik Karlsson (lower body) and Caleb Jones (lower body) are going to be out longer term. In order to make room for the blueliner on the roster, the Pens sent Joona Koppanen down to the minors in a move earlier Tuesday. In his 16 NHL games this year, the 25-year-old Solovyov has notched one goal, two assists and 19 hits while averaging just 11:34 of ice time.

  • Penguins' Blake Lizotte: Picks up pair of helpers

Lizotte notched two assists, two shots on goal, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 6-3 win over the Kraken.

Lizotte helped out on Parker Wotherspoon's opening goal and Connor Dewar's empty-netter to close things out. With eight points and a plus-7 rating over 12 contests since he returned from an upper-body injury, Lizotte has been a steady scoring presence in the Penguins' bottom six. He's now at six goals, 13 points, 40 shots, 33 hits, 21 blocked shots, 21 PIM and a plus-8 rating through 39 appearances.

  • Penguins' Brett Kulak: Deposits goal Monday

Kulak scored a goal on two shots, added four PIM and went plus-3 in Monday's 6-3 win over the Kraken.

Kulak snapped a seven-game point drought with the goal. The 32-year-old has seen regular top-four usage lately and is also receiving power-play time in the absence of Erik Karlsson (lower body). Kulak has one goal, four assists, 55 shots on net, 70 blocked shots, 28 PIM and a minus-5 rating over 48 appearances between the Penguins and the Oilers this season.

  • Penguins' Parker Wotherspoon: Finds twine early in win

Wotherspoon scored a goal and added three hits in Monday's 6-3 win over the Kraken.

Wotherspoon ended a seven-game point drought with the tally. It was his first goal since Nov. 16 versus the Predators, and he earned eight helpers over the 28 contests in between goals. The 28-year-old defenseman is still having a career year with three goals, 13 assists, 46 shots on net, 97 hits, 74 blocked shots, 34 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 48 outings in a top-four role.

  • Penguins' Justin Brazeau: Pots goal in Monday's win

Brazeau scored a goal on three shots in Monday's 6-3 win over the Kraken.

Brazeau has scored twice over the last three contests after going seven games without a point. The 27-year-old has been on the third line recently after spending a large portion of the campaign on the second line. Brazeau has already earned career highs in goals (14) and points (22) while adding 63 shots on net, 44 hits, 21 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 34 appearances this season.

  • Penguins' Rickard Rakell: Nets another goal

Rakell scored a goal, added three hits and went plus-2 in Monday's 6-3 win over the Kraken.

Rakell has two goals and an assist during a three-game point streak. That matches his longest run since he returned from a hand injury in mid-December. The 32-year-old is up to eight goals, 20 points, 85 shots on net, 39 hits, 25 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 28 appearances. He's not at the peak of his performance currently, but Rakell's continued presence in the top six bodes well for steady offense.

  • Penguins' Joona Koppanen: Relegated to AHL

Koppanen was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday.

Koppanen was brought up from the AHL on Sunday but will link back up with the minor-league squad in short order. The 2016 fifth-round selection (No. 135 overall) has garnered six goals, 11 points and a plus-9 rating over 22 appearances in the minors this season.

  • Penguins' Anthony Mantha: Two points in Monday's win

Mantha notched two assists in Monday's 6-3 win over the Kraken.

The journeyman winger had a hand in tallies by Parker Wotherspoon in the first period and Justin Brazeau in the third. Mantha has yet to find the back of the net himself in January, but he's chipped in five assists, and he remains on pace for a career-best season with 14 goals and 32 points in 48 contests.

  • Penguins' Sidney Crosby: Two helpers in Seattle

Crosby picked up two assists in Monday's 6-3 win over the Kraken.

The future Hall of Famer set up Brett Kulak for what proved to be the game-winner late in the second period before having a hand in a Rickard Rakell insurance tally late in the third. Crosby has delivered three straight multi-point efforts, and through 10 games in January, he's churned out five goals and 15 points.

  • Penguins' Connor Dewar: Lights lamp twice in win

Dewar scored two goals, one shorthanded, in Monday's 6-3 win over the Kraken.

The checking-line winger gave the Penguins a 2-0 lead midway through the first period before icing things late in the third with an empty-netter. Dewar has been locked in during January, producing five goals, seven points, 16 shots on net, 12 hits, seven blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-7 rating in 10 games, and his 11 goals on the season through 48 contests have already tied his previous career high.

  • Penguins' Stuart Skinner: Strong January continues

Skinner turned aside 20 shots in Monday's 6-3 win over the Kraken.

The 27-year-old netminder got plenty of offensive support once again as he won for the fifth time in his last six starts. Skinner's found a groove in the Pittsburgh crease in a tandem with Arturs Silovs, and during that 5-1-0 stretch, he's posted a 1.67 GAA and a .931 save percentage.

Clifton scored a goal and added five hits in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.

Clifton has played in four straight games after getting scratched for 11 of the previous 12 contests. For now, it looks like he has a third-pairing job locked down while Erik Karlsson (lower body) is out. The goal was Clifton's first point in 19 appearances, and he's added 15 shots on net, 80 hits, 31 blocked shots, 22 PIM and a minus-4 rating.
