Oilers' Josh Brown: Returns to NHL
Brown was called up from AHL Bakersfield on Friday.
Brown was sent down Nov. 23 after Darnell Nurse returned from an injury. The 30-year-old Brown is back in the NHL to provide extra defensive depth since Evan Bouchard (lower body) is questionable to play Saturday against the Golden Knights.

Oilers' Ty Emberson: Garners helper in win
Emberson logged a shorthanded assist and five PIM in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
Emberson helped out on a Connor Brown goal at 1:55 of the second period. This came after Emberson fought Jakub Lauko in the opening frame. Emberson has two helpers over his last six outings, and he's at three assists, 27 shots on net, 39 hits, 33 blocked shots and 14 PIM through 27 contests overall. He remains firmly in a bottom-four role for the Oilers.

Oilers' Mattias Janmark: Bags apple in Thursday's win
Janmark provided a shorthanded assist and two shots on goal in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
Janmark set up Connor Brown's shortie in the second period. This was Janmark's second shorthanded point of the season, and he's up to 12 points, 16 shots on net and a plus-1 rating through 29 appearances. He has four assists over his last eight outings to maintain steady depth offense in a third-line role.

Oilers' Troy Stecher: Scores in big win
Stecher scored a goal on two shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
Both of Stecher's goals this season have come over the last three games, and all five of his points have been over the last eight contests. The 30-year-old is still in a bottom-four role with an average of just 14:41 of ice time per game. Stecher has added 24 shots on net, 28 blocked shots, 15 hits and 11 PIM, but given his limited role, it's unlikely he's able to sustain his recent success on offense -- especially since he's reached double-digit points in just one of the last three seasons.

Oilers' Derek Ryan: Pots goal Thursday
Ryan scored a goal in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
The Oilers got contributions from all over the lineup Thursday, and Ryan chipped in with a goal late in the third period. The 37-year-old center snapped his eight-game point drought in the process. He has one goal, two assists, 17 shots on net, 18 hits, 16 blocked shots, 12 PIM and a minus-5 rating over 27 contests this season. Ryan is firmly locked in on the fourth line, a role that offers almost no upside in Edmonton.

Oilers' Kasperi Kapanen: Lights lamp in blowout win
Kapanen scored a goal and went plus-2 in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
Kapanen has moved around the lineup a bit since joining the Oilers. He was on the second line Thursday, and he benefited from a pass by Leon Draisaitl to set up the second goal, with Kapanen earning his first game-winning tally in an Edmonton sweater in the process. The 28-year-old winger is up to four points, 21 shots on net, 30 hits and a minus-5 rating over 19 outings this season, but he's earned three of those points over nine contests with the Oilers, so it looks like he's fitting in well as a depth forward.

Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Collects pair of helpers in win
Nurse notched two assists, four shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
Nurse earned his first multi-point effort since Nov. 14. He has four points over eight contests since he returned from an upper-body injury he suffered against the Maple Leafs on Nov. 16. Nurse won't keep pace with the elite high-scoring defensemen, but he's been solid this year with 13 points, 70 shots on net, 51 blocked shots, 45 hits and a plus-10 rating over 26 appearances.

Oilers' Evan Bouchard: Game-time call for Saturday
Bouchard (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Saturday's tilt against Vegas, per Ryan Rishaug of TSN on Friday.
Bouchard exited Thursday's 7-1 win over Minnesota late in the third period. He has six goals and 22 points across 29 appearances in 2024-25. If he can't play Saturday, then Alec Regula, who was claimed off waivers from Boston on Wednesday, will presumably make his Oilers debut.

Oilers' Ryan Nugent-Hopkins: Scores power-play goal
Nugent-Hopkins scored a power-play goal in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
Nugent-Hopkins found the back of the net for the third time across his last seven appearances, and this was his first power-play goal this season. The left winger has cracked the scoresheet four times in that aforementioned seven-game stretch, tallying six points (three goals, three assists). Even though he's not expected to reach the productive levels of teammates such as Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins should continue to find ample opportunities to produce through his first-line role and spot on the first power-play unit.

Oilers' Zach Hyman: Extends solid run
Hyman netted a power-play goal in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
Hyman missed five games between Nov. 21 and Dec. 3 due to an undisclosed injury, but the winger has been excellent since returning to the ice against the Blue Jackets on Dec. 5. The 32-year-old has four goals over four appearances since returning to game action, and two of those goals have come with the man advantage. He's up to seven goals and 12 points across 24 appearances this season.

Oilers' Connor Brown: Records multi-point effort Thursday
Brown registered a shorthanded goal and an even-strength assist in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
Brown found the back of the net when the Wild were on the power play less than two minutes into the second period, and his goal gave Edmonton a 3-1 lead. He also set up the final goal in the late stages of the third period, courtesy of a Derek Ryan tip-in. This was Brown's third multi-point effort of the season. However, he hasn't been a consistent source of scoring for the Oilers, and when factoring in his fourth-line role, he shouldn't carry a lot of fantasy upside going forward, even if he turned a few heads with his play in this contest.

Oilers' Connor McDavid: Two helpers Thursday
McDavid delivered two assists, including one on the power play, in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
McDavid couldn't extend his goal streak to three games Thursday, but he pushed his point streak to four contests, and he's notched multi-point efforts three times in that span. McDavid's consistency on a game-to-game basis is outstanding, and the star playmaker has recorded two or more points in six of his previous 10 appearances. During that stretch, the 27-year-old has racked up seven goals and 12 assists, with six of those points (two goals, four helpers) coming on the power play.

Oilers' Leon Draisaitl: Elite outing vs. Minnesota
Draisaitl notched one goal and three assists, including two on the power play, in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
Draisaitl has been on a tear in recent games. Aside from notching a season-high mark in points for a single game Thursday, the 29-year-old has recorded four consecutive multi-point efforts, and he has multi-point performances in 11 of his previous 15 contests. Across that 15-game stretch, Draisaitl has racked up an impressive 26 points, with 12 goals and 14 assists.

Oilers' Vasily Podkolzin: Sets up two goals in rout
Podkolzin delivered two assists in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
The 23-year-old Russian winger scored goals in three consecutive games between Nov. 23 and Nov. 30, and while he followed that up with a four-game pointless drought, he bounced back in this one. This was his second multi-point performance of the season, but since the winger has racked up just 10 points in 29 contests, he's not likely to carry a lot of fantasy appeal, even if he plays as a top-six forward in a strong lineup.

Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Stops 29 shots Thursday
Pickard stopped 29 of 30 shots in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
The Oilers delivered one of their best offensive performances in recent memory, but even if that hadn't been the case, Pickard made sure he'd provide enough support to the offense by stopping all but one of the shots on goal he faced. Pickard is firmly entrenched in a backup role, but he's making his presence felt when his number gets called. He's won his last three starts, posting a 2.32 GAA and a .916 save percentage in that span.

Oilers' Evan Bouchard: Leaves late with injury
Bouchard (lower body) limped off the ice late in the third period of Thursday's game versus the Wild, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports.
It's unclear if he was seriously hurt or just shaken up on the play. Bouchard had two assists in the 7-1 win, putting him at 22 points through 29 appearances this season. The Oilers' next game is Saturday against the Golden Knights, so there should be an update on his status prior to that contest's 4:00 p.m. Eastern puck drop.

Oilers' Travis Dermott: Placed on waivers
Dermott was placed on waivers by the Oilers on Thursday.
Dermott signed a contract with the Oilers just before the start of the regular season as he was on a PTO throughout training camp. The 27-year-old failed to pick up a point in 10 NHL games this season and has been a healthy scratch over the last seven games. Dermott will be sent to AHL Bakersfield if he clears waivers.

Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Tending twine Thursday
Pickard will defend the road cage against the Wild on Thursday, Jessi Pierce of NHL.com reports.
Pickard is actually riding a two-game winning streak during which he posted a .887 save percentage, but he has played in only two of the Oilers' last nine contests. While he won't be taking over Stuart Skinner's starting job any time soon, Pickard could play his way into a larger share of the workload if he can string some wins together.
