Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Can't slow down Ducks
Schmid stopped 25 of 29 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Ducks.
Schmid gave up three goals over the first two periods before settling in enough to allow the Golden Knights to force overtime. However, Jacob Trouba scored 4:28 into the extra session to hand Schmid the loss. This was just the second time in eight outings Schmid has been tagged for four-plus goals. He's gone 6-1-1 with a 2.51 GAA and a .901 save percentage so far. The 25-year-old has been alternating starts with Carl Lindbom recently, but it's unclear if that pattern will continue for the Golden Knights' four-game week ahead, which begins Monday at home versus the Panthers.

Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Set to face Anaheim
Schmid is expected to start at home against Anaheim on Saturday, per SinBin Vegas.
Schmid has a 6-1-0 record, 2.31 GAA and .908 save percentage in seven appearances in 2025-26. He earned a 24-save shutout over Detroit in his last start Tuesday. Although expectations weren't high for Anaheim going into the campaign, the Ducks are 9-3-1 and rank first in goals per game with 4.15, so this might be a challenging assignment for Schmid.

Schmid had no margin for error throughout the game, and he made Ivan Barbashev's second-period tally stand as the winner. This was Schmid's second career NHL shutout and his first as a Golden Knight. He's up to 6-1-0 with a 2.31 GAA and a .908 save percentage through seven appearances this season. The 25-year-old continues to operate as the starter while Adin Hill (lower body) works his way back. The Golden Knights continue their homestand Thursday versus the Lightning.

Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: First off Tuesday
Schmid was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, SinBin Vegas reports, indicating he will start Tuesday's home matchup versus Detroit.
Schmid is coming off a 21-save effort in last Tuesday's 6-3 win over Carolina. He has a 5-1-0 record this season while allowing 15 goals on 139 shots. Detroit is tied for 14th in the league with 3.23 goals per game this campaign.

Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Hangs on for fifth win
Schmid made 21 saves in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Hurricanes.
Logan Stankoven ripped a shot from the slot past Schmid early in the third period to give Carolina a 3-2 lead, but the 25-year-old netminder shut the door the rest of the way while the Vegas offense took control. Schmid has benefitted from some impressive support in the early going, with the Golden Knights scoring at least four goals in all five of his wins -- helping to explain why his 5-1-0 record is outpacing his 2.73 GAA and .892 save percentage. Adin Hill (lower body) still lacks a timeline for his return, and Carter Hart (suspension) won't be eligible for the NHL roster until December, so Schmid will continue to hold down the fort in the Vegas crease.

Schmid will protect the road goal versus the Hurricanes on Tuesday, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Schmid will try to bounce back from his first loss of the season, when he gave up three goals on 26 shots to the Panthers on Saturday. He's won his other four outings while posting a 2.67 GAA and an .896 save percentage overall, including a 22-save relief performance over the Hurricanes on Oct. 20.

Schmid allowed three even-strength goals Saturday, including two in the third period. The 25-year-old goalie has 4-1-0 record with a 2.67 GAA and an .896 save percentage across five appearances. With starting goaltender Adin Hill considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury, Schmid should see the bulk of reps between the pipes for Vegas, and deservingly so with his solid start to the campaign. Current backup Carl Lindbom will likely guard the crease for the Golden Knights at Tampa Bay on Sunday in the latter half of a back-to-back, but Schmid has strong streaming value in fantasy moving forward playing for a Vegas squad that is 5-1-2 out of the gate.

Schmid is expected to start on the road against Florida on Saturday, per David Dwork of The Hockey News.
Schmid has won his first four outings of the season while stopping 80 of 89 shots (.899 save percentage). Meanwhile, the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions have struggled lately. Florida has dropped five of its past six games while averaging just 1.83 goals per game over that span. The Panthers are still a dangerous team, but this might be as good a time as any to face them.

Schmid had to step up in relief for an injured Adin Hill (lower body) for the second time this season. The former was outstanding against the undefeated Hurricanes and stopped all but one of the shots he faced en route to earning his fourth win of the campaign in an equal number of appearances. Schmid is expected to operate as the Golden Knights' No. 1 netminder if Hill is forced to miss time, and right now, he'd be slated to start against the Panthers on Saturday if Hill weren't able to return.

Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Lackluster in start Thursday
Schmid allowed five goals on 24 shots in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Bruins.
While he escaped with the win, Schmid's shaky goaltending in the third period nearly allowed the Bruins back in. This was Schmid's third win of the season, but he's now allowed eight goals on 66 shots for an .879 save percentage. Adin Hill was able to back up Thursday after being cleared of a lower-body injury sustained Tuesday versus the Flames. That likely means Schmid will return to a backup role -- or a timeshare at best -- moving forward. The Golden Knights host the Flames on Saturday for their next game.

Schmid has a 2-0-0 record, 1.80 GAA and .929 save percentage in two appearances this year. Head coach Bruce Cassidy said this was a scheduled start for Schmid, so his assignment presumably doesn't have anything to do with Adin Hill's lower-body injury. It's still possible that Hill will serve as the backup goaltender Thursday. If Hill can't, then Vegas will need to recall a netminder from AHL Henderson.

Schmid entered the game after Adin Hill suffered a lower-body injury, and he earned his second win of the season. Schmid should remain between the pipes as the Golden Knights' starting netminder for as long as Hill remains sidelined. Through two outings, Schmid has gone 2-0-0 with a 1.80 GAA after stopping 39 of 42 shots for a .929 save percentage.

Schmid stopped 20 of 23 shots in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Sharks.
Schmid handled the second half of a back-to-back, but he never had a lead to protect. The Sharks took three separate leads, only for the Golden Knights to answer each one. A fluky goal on a dump-in by Jack Eichel tied it late in the third period, and Reilly Smith scored on a misplay by Alex Nedeljkovic to seal the win in overtime. Schmid didn't put a great effort on display in his season debut, but Adin Hill struggled in the season opener versus the Kings on Wednesday. It's still possible the Vegas crease ends up as a timeshare, but Schmid has a shorter leash if the team opts to upgrade its goaltending group. It'll likely be Hill between the pipes in Seattle on Saturday.

Schmid stopped all nine shots he faced in relief of Adin Hill in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild in Game 3.
Schmid played the third period, and the only goal the Wild scored in that frame was an empty-netter. The 24-year-old has handled the backup duties in the playoffs over Ilya Samsonov. Schmid earned that role with three good starts in April while Samsonov was hurt. At this time, it doesn't look like Schmid is pushing to take over the starting role, but the Golden Knights are down 2-1 in the series and can ill afford another poor outing from Hill.

Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Light work in win
Schmid stopped 16 of 17 shots in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks.
Schmid wasn't all that busy in the contest. Pius Suter opened the scoring for the Canucks, but the Golden Knights bounced back with a third-period tally to claim the win. Schmid went 2-0-1 with five goals allowed on 90 shots over his five NHL appearances this season. Since AHL Henderson missed the minor-league playoffs, expect Schmid to stay in the NHL as extra goaltending depth during the postseason.

Schmid will get the nod in the regular-season finale, allowing Adin Hill a bit more rest before the playoffs. The 24-year-old Schmid is 1-0-1 with four goals allowed on 73 shots (.945 save percentage) over four NHL outings. He may stick with the Golden Knights for the playoffs, but the 24-year-old won't see the ice unless both Hill and Ilya Samsonov get hurt.
