Heineman suffered an upper-body injury in a traffic accident as a pedestrian Monday and will be sidelined for 3-4 weeks, the team announced Tuesday.

Heineman, who was acquired from Calgary as part of the Tyler Toffoli trade in February of 2022, will crack his first Opening Night roster in the NHL. He played 48 games at AHL Laval last season, posting 15 goals on 113 shots (13.3 shooting percentage) and 14 assists. Heineman is expected to open at wing on the fourth line.
