  • Predators' Matt Murray: Inks two-year extension

Murray agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way contract with Nashville on Wednesday. Murray has put together a solid campaign with AHL Milwaukee this year, going 25-10-5 with a .930 save percentage and 2.15 GAA in 40 appearances for the Admirals. Despite his decent numbers with the Admirals, the 27-year-old backstop has been unable to break into the NHL with the Predators this year. Given the two-way nature of his deal, Murray is unlikely to be anything more than an emergency depth option for the Preds moving forward.

In his 27 appearances for AHL Milwaukee this year, the 27-year-old Murray is 17-7-3 with a .930 save percentage and a 2.19 GAA. Murray will head back to the minors once Saros rejoins the team.

Murray was reassigned to AHL Milwaukee on Saturday. Juuse Saros (illness) is good to start Saturday in Pittsburgh, so Murray's presence on the roster is no longer needed. Murray was promoted from AHL Milwaukee on Friday, Alex Daugherty of The Tennessean reports. Once Saros is feeling well enough to play, Murray will likely return to Milwaukee.

  • Predators' Matt Murray: Reassigned to AHL

Murray was returned to AHL Milwaukee on Friday. The Predators required a back up for Scott Wedgewood on Wednesday as Juuse Saros was unable to dress due to a lower-body injury. The Predators play Saturday in Detroit and if Saros is still unable to play, look for Murray to be recalled once again.

  • Predators' Matt Murray: Recalled by Nashville

Murray was recalled from AHL Milwaukee on Wednesday. Murray was sent to the AHL in late September, but he'll rejoin the Predators ahead of Opening Night against Dallas on Thursday. However, it seems unlikely that he'll see much, if any, time in net for the NHL club early in the season.

  • Predators' Matt Murray: Waived Sunday

Murray was waived Sunday for assignment to AHL Milwaukee, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Murray was a longshot to make the Preds' opening-night roster behind Juuse Saros and Scott Wedgewood. The 26-year-old netminder figures to spend most of the 2024-25 campaign with AHL Milwaukee as an insurance option in goal.

  • Predators' Matt Murray: Signs with Nashville

Murray signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Predators on Monday. Murray is buried on the goalie depth chart in Nashville and should spend the 2024-25 campaign with AHL Milwaukee, barring any injuries. He posted a lackluster 3.02 GAA and .896 save percentage in 31 games with AHL Texas last season. The 26-year-old has made four career NHL appearances.

  • Stars' Matt Murray: Recalled by Dallas

Murray was promoted from AHL Texas on Tuesday, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports. Scott Wedgewood is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury, so Murray will either start or serve as Jake Oettinger's backup Tuesday versus LA. Murray was excellent in his lone NHL appearance of the season Jan. 8 against the Wild, stopping all 23 shots he faced en route to a 4-0 victory.

  • Stars' Matt Murray: Back in minors

Murray was returned to AHL Texas on Thursday. Murray has been up and down frequently of late -- the Stars have been saving valuable cap space when they are not in action. Murray has been up with the big club to serve as the backup with Jake Oettinger, unavailable -- he's been out of action for four weeks with a lower-body injury. Murray picked up a shutout Monday, stopping 23 shots in a 4-0 win over Minnesota, his first NHL game of the season. If Oettinger remains unavailable, look for Murray to return to the NHL roster Friday as the Stars face Nashville.

  • Stars' Matt Murray: Summoned Wednesday

Murray was recalled from AHL Texas on Wednesday, according to Stars' radio analyst Bruce LeVine. Murray was reassigned to Texas on Tuesday, but that was apparently just a cap move. His return to Dallas suggests Jake Oettinger (lower body) won't be available for Wednesday's home game versus Minnesota. Murray made his NHL season debut Monday, posting a 23-save shutout versus the Wild.

  • Stars' Matt Murray: Earns first shutout

Murray stopped all 23 shots he faced in Monday's 4-0 win over the Wild. This was Murray's fourth NHL appearance, his second win and his first shutout. The Stars played a strong game in front of him to make it easier for the 25-year-old, who hadn't seen any game action in over three weeks. He's mainly backed up Scott Wedgewood while Jake Oettinger (lower body) has been working his way back from an injury, but with Oettinger getting close, Murray's time in the NHL for this stint is likely soon to be over.

  • Stars' Matt Murray: Recalled from AHL

Murray was brought up from AHL Texas on Monday. The Stars had Joe O'Brien, who agreed to an amateur tryout agreement with the team, serve as Scott Wedgewood's backup in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to St. Louis. O'Brien was released Sunday, so Dallas was able to add Murray under the roster emergency exception rule ahead of Monday's matchup against Seattle. Murray has posted a 1-2-0 record with a 3.39 GAA and an .844 save percentage in three NHL starts with the Stars last season. His presence with the big club probably means that Jake Oettinger (lower body) isn't ready to return yet.

At the AHL level, he's posted a 2.27 GAA and a .913 save percentage in 31 contests with Texas this season. Vancouver has the 11th-ranked offense with 3.35 goals per game in 2022-23.
