Avalanche's Martin Necas: Multi-point outing
Rotowire
Necas provided two assists and took three shots on goal in Sunday's 5-4 win against the Rangers.
Necas' first win with Colorado was a high-scoring battle, and the former Hurricane played a large role in the offensive zone. Both of his assists came on first-period goals by Cale Makar. The 26-year-old forward is up to 41 assists and 57 points across 51 games this season. While he is just getting started in Colorado, one thing is for certain: the skating speed of Necas and Nathan MacKinnon on the top line will be difficult for opposing defenses to handle. MacKinnon got the other assist on both of Makar's goals, showing Necas is already developing chemistry with Colorado's superstars. Necas is on pace to shatter his career best of 71 points.

Avalanche's Martin Necas: Flipped to Colorado
Rotowire
Necas was traded to the Avalanche from the Hurricanes as part of a three-team deal Friday, Emily Kaplan of ESPN reports.
Necas will be part of the return to Colorado, as well as Jack Drury, a 2025 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick, with Mikko Rantanen going to Carolina in return. The Blackhawks are also involved, retaining 50 percent of Rantanen's salary and sending Taylor Hall to Carolina in exchange for a third-round pick in 2025. Necas goes from being part of a strong top six with the Hurricanes to potentially playing alongside the NHL's point leader, Nathan MacKinnon, in the spot vacated by Rantanen. Necas has already racked up 55 points over 49 games, and his offense could reach the next level in an offense that's more top-heavy rather than balanced.

Hurricanes' Martin Necas: Adds power-play assist
Rotowire
Necas notched a power-play assist and four shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.
Necas' meteoric pace from early in the season dried up in December -- he closed out the calendar year with just two assists over his last nine games.
