Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Moves to LTIR
Kaprizov (lower body) was placed on long-term injured reserve Sunday.
The move from IR to LTIR, which is retroactive to Jan. 26, likely won't impact Kaprizov's recovery from a lingering lower-body injury. He will miss a minimum of four weeks after having surgery Friday. Kaprizov has registered 23 goals, 52 points and 128 shots on net across 37 appearances this season.

Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Shifts to IR

Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Headed for surgery
Kaprizov will undergo surgery Friday to address the lower-body injury that previously sidelined him for 12 games. At a minimum, the winger is expected to miss four weeks, though it could be longer, Jessi Pierce of NHL.com reports.
Kaprizov was fairly solid in his last three games back from that injury, recording two assists and eighth shots while averaging 20:06 of ice time. According to general manager Bill Guerin, the 27-year-old Kaprizov likely could have played through the injury but would have only been at about 60 percent. Instead, the Wild will shut the Russian down and look to an end-of-season push. On the year, Kaprizov has managed 23 goals and 29 helpers in 37 appearances but almost certainly will miss the 40-goal mark for the first time since his rookie campaign back in 2020-21.

Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Helps out on power play
Kaprizov logged a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Blackhawks.
Kaprizov set up a Joel Eriksson Ek tally in the second period, which stood as the game-winner. With a helper in each of the last two games, Kaprizov is slowly getting back on track after a 12-game absence due to a lower-body injury. The superstar winger is up to 52 points (12 on the power play), 128 shots on net and a plus-19 rating over 37 appearances. Even with the lengthy absence, it's possible Kaprizov could push for a 100-point campaign if he returns to the level he played at early in 2024-25.

Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Notches helper in loss
Kaprizov registered an assist and three shots on goal in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Flames.
This was Kaprizov's second game back after missing 12 contests due to a lower-body injury. He's taken a little time to get back up to speed, which is fair given the length of his absence. The 27-year-old is at 23 goals, 28 helpers, 126 shots on net and a plus-20 rating through 36 appearances this season. Kaprizov was generating some MVP buzz prior to his injury, but the Wild and his fantasy managers just need him to look like the best player on the ice on a game-to-game basis.

Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Moves to long-term injured reserve
Kaprizov (lower body) was placed on long-term injured reserve Thursday, retroactive to Dec. 23.
Kaprizov is eligible to return Saturday versus the Predators. The 27-year-old winger's move to LTIR is a cap-related transaction, as the Wild were short at forward without enough cap space to fill out their roster prior to the move. Brendan Gaunce and Liam Ohgren were called up from AHL Iowa following Kaprizov's move to LTIR.

He could miss additional time afterward, but he has been skating and engaging in regular workouts off the ice to progress his recovery. Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Remaining in Minnesota
Kaprizov (lower body) stayed home when the Wild left for a two-game road trip against the Sharks and Knights on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, Joe Smith of The Athletic reports.
Kaprizov has been making strides in his recovery but will have to wait at least two more games before getting back into the lineup. As a result, the 27-year-old Russian will have been sidelined for at least nine games due to his lower-body issue. Even with his absence, Kaprizov could still top the 100-point mark this year after coming up just four points shy during the 2023-24 campaign.

Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Resumes skating
Head coach John Hynes said Thursday that Kaprizov (lower body) has skated over the last few days, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.

Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Yet to resume skating
Kaprizov (lower body) hasn't resumed skating and could be out beyond Saturday's clash with Carolina after general manager Bill Guerin told reporters Thursday, "The thing is that we don't want him to come back and push through. He could, but it could make something worse. We need him for the long haul. We don't just need him for a couple games in January. We need him to get healthy and feel better, so we're trying to do the right thing and just look at it from the long point of view," per Michael Russo of The Athletic.
Kaprizov is already on injured reserve and will miss his fifth straight game Saturday. Prior to getting hurt, the 27-year-old winger had picked up a point in five of his last six outings, racking up five goals and two helpers over that stretch. With Kaprizov on the shelf, Matt Boldy is getting a look at a first-line role alongside Marco Rossi and Mats Zuccarello.

Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: On injured reserve
Kaprizov (lower body) was put on injured reserve Wednesday, per the NHL media site.
Kaprizov hasn't played since Dec. 23, so he's eligible to be activated whenever he's healthy. However, it seems fair to believe the Wild wouldn't have put him on IR unless they expected him to miss at least one more game -- Minnesota's next scheduled tilt is Thursday in Washington. Kaprizov has 23 goals and 50 points in 34 appearances in 2024-25.

Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Still day-to-day
Kaprizov (lower body) is considered day-to-day and is questionable for Sunday's game against Ottawa, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
While it doesn't appear that Kaprizov's injury will keep him out long-term, his status remains in flux ahead of Sunday's contest after he sat out Friday in a win over Dallas. The Wild will certainly hope to get Kaprizov back sooner rather than later -- the 27-year-old winger ranks second in goals (23) and points (50) through 34 games.
