Emberson signed a two-year, $2.6 million contract extension with the Oilers on Saturday.
Emberson finished the regular season with two goals, 13 points, 125 hits and 97 blocks in 76 outings. The 24-year-old has served primarily in a third-pairing capacity in 2024-25, averaging 15:07 of ice time, but he might find himself as a healthy scratch on occasion in the playoffs should the Oilers' blue line get healthy -- presently, Edmonton is missing Mattias Ekholm (undisclosed), John Klingberg (lower body) and Troy Stecher (undisclosed). However, Klingberg might be an option for Monday's playoff opener versus the Kings.

Emberson had a total of 13 points this season, with both of his goals and one of his assists coming in four games versus the Sharks, his former team. The 24-year-old added 62 shots on net, 125 hits, 97 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over 76 appearances. If the Oilers' blue line was fully healthy entering the playoffs, he wouldn't be a lock to play, but Mattias Ekholm (undisclosed) is expected to miss time while Troy Stecher (undisclosed), Jake Walman (undisclosed) and John Klingberg (lower body) are all questionable heading into Game 1 versus the Kings. As such, expect Emberson to be in the lineup at least at the beginning of the postseason.

Oilers' Ty Emberson: First goal comes against old team
Emberson scored a goal, added three hits and blocked two shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Sharks.
The Oilers were at nearly full health in mid-to-late March, which started to see Emberson get bumped from the lineup. Injuries have since piled up on the blue line again, allowing him to play in eight straight games. He scored his first goal of the season Friday, and it came against the team that gave him his NHL debut in 2023-24. Emberson has 11 points -- one more than last year -- while adding 60 shots on net, 118 hits, 95 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating through 73 appearances in 2024-25.

Mattias Ekholm's six-game absence due to an undisclosed injury in the middle of March allowed Emberson to stay in the lineup for a while after the Oilers acquired Jake Walman.
