Montreal has yet to provide an update on Laine's (knee) status, per Arpon Basu of The Athletic, though he did show up at the rink Sunday.
Laine suffered a knee-on-knee hit against the Leafs on Saturday, and there is plenty of speculation regarding how long (not if) he will be sidelined. At this point, fantasy players will have to continue to wait for more information but should probably be expecting him to miss the start of the 2024-25 campaign. If Laine is in fact out long-term, Josh Anderson could move into the second-line role in addition to linking up with the No. 1 power-play unit.

Laine generated six goals, nine points, 41 shots on net and 14 blocked shots across 18 regular-season appearances with the Blue Jackets in 2023-24. He has been cleared to return from the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program but is still recovering from a clavicle fracture he sustained against Toronto on Dec. 14. Laine entered the program in late January after missing 17 games with a fractured clavicle. Laine only played in 18 regular-season games with the Blue Jackets in 2023-24, scoring six goals and adding three assists. He has requested a trade out of Columbus and should find a new home before the start of training camp.
