The loss wasn't on Ullmark -- the Leafs were the better team, even if they didn't always play that way, especially in the middle frame. Ullmark has allowed nine goals in two losses to the Leafs in the first round, but a lot of those have come in tough circumstances. He's better than this, but his team looks outmatched, at least to this point.

The Maple Leafs scored three of their six goals on the power play, and that was the difference. Toronto was opportunistic, while Ottawa was unable to convert despite creating plenty of chances. Ullmark is one of few players on the Senators' roster with any playoff experience, but this was just his 11th postseason appearance. He'll likely start again Tuesday in Game 2, but any continued struggles could allow Anton Forsberg to get some action.

It was the netminder's fourth straight win to close out the regular season, a stretch in which he posted a 2.01 GAA and .931 save percentage, and Ullmark looks ready for the postseason -- which begins Sunday for the Senators in Toronto.

Ullmark has won his last three starts and six of his last seven games. Ullmark's strong performance was an important one, solidfying the Senators' advantage in the playoff race and moving them just two points shy of the Panthers for the third playoff spot in the Atlantic Division. Sunday's shutout was Ullmark's fourth of the season, which is a total that is now two higher than any other season of his 10-year career. Overall, the 31-year-old goaltender is up to a 23-14-3 record with a 2.68 GAA and a .911 save percentage in 42 games this season. Ullmark's playing time has been fairly stable in his first season with the Senators, and he has been more than serviceable when he's between the pipes. Ullmark should finish the campaign with his 10th season in a row above a .905 save percentage. His next opportunity to guard the crease is Tuesday in a rematch at Columbus.

Ullmark snapped a three-game winning streak Tuesday against the Sabres by allowing four goals on 21 shots (.810 save percentage), but he'll start in a second consecutive game Thursday.
