  • Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner: Nets OT winner in Canada win

Marner scored the game-winning goal Wednesday in overtime in a 4-3 win for Team Canada over Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off. He skated with Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon on the night, and while he was a bit invisible early, Marner came through in open ice in OT with a blocker side shot past Filip Gustavsson that went just inside the post. More remarkably, the crowd in Montreal actually cheered wildly as Marner was named the game's second star. That's a rarity for a guy usually adorned in blue and white.

Marner notched an assist in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kraken. Marner missed Tuesday's game in Calgary due to a lower-body injury. The 27-year-old winger helped out on Philippe Myers' first goal as a Maple Leaf, which opened the scoring at 7:23 of the first period in this contest. Marner has two goals and 10 assists over his last nine outings, and he's up to 16 tallies, 55 helpers, 123 shots on net and a plus-8 rating over 53 appearances this season.

Prior to his absence, the 27-year-old had put forth multi-point performances in five of his last 13 appearances, racking up three goals, 16 assists, 11 hits, five blocked shots, four PIM and a plus-7 rating while averaging 21:41 of ice time across that span.

  • Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner: Won't suit up versus Flames

Marner (lower body) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Flames. Marner is considered day-to-day but will be forced to miss at least one game. Max Domi will get a chance to fill in on the top line with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies. Marner's next chance to play is Thursday at Seattle.

  • Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner: Game-time decision

Marner (undisclosed) will be a game-time call versus Calgary on Tuesday, David Alter of The Hockey News reports. Marner didn't participate in Tuesday's morning skate after missing Monday's practice for maintenance. He has amassed 16 goals, 70 points and 122 shots on net in 52 appearances this season. If Marner can't play versus the Flames, Max Domi will skate on the top line, and Morgan Rielly will be on the top power-play combination.

  • Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner: In doubt Tuesday

Marner is questionable to face the Flames on Tuesday with an undisclosed injury, Jonas Siegel of The Athletic reports. Marner has scored just twice in his last 12 games but that hasn't stopped him from racking up points, adding 12 helpers over that stretch, including four with the man advantage. If the 27-year-old winger can't play Tuesday, Max Domi is expected to move into Marner's spot on the first line while Ryan Reaves would return to the lineup.

  • Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner: Scoring excellence continues

Marner had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win over the Oilers on Saturday. His goal ended up being the winner. Marner made it 4-1 just 18 seconds into the third period on a deke that went in off him and through Stuart Skinner's pads. He's fourth in the NHL in scoring with 70, and he's the NHL's second-best playmaker with 54 helpers. Marner has 709 points, including 499 assists, in 628 games played. And with the cap going up next season, Marner's UFA payday this summer will be massive.

  • Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner: Playmaking maestro at it again

Marner delivered two assists in a 4-3 overtime win over New Jersey on Thursday. He also delivered four hits. Marner's pass to spring William Nylander on a breakaway for the OT winner was classic Mitch -- he wired it from behind his own blue line and threaded it right on Willie's stick at the offensive blue line. Nylander did the rest. Marner has just one goal in his last 10 games, but his 12 assists have helped lead the way for the Leafs. Overall, he leads Toronto in scoring with 62 points in 46 games, and he's second in assists in the NHL (48), behind Nathan MacKinnon, who has 55. Marner is the sixth skater in Leafs' history to reach 700 points in blue and white and the fastest to reach the milestone (622 games). He passed Darryl Sittler, who reached 700 in 666 games.

  • Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner: Smothered by Canes checkers

Marner tallied an assist Thursday in a 6-3 loss to Carolina. Unfortunately, both he and Auston Matthews were dominated by the Canes' checking line, and both men finished minus-6 on the night. Marner has three assists in his last two games. He's a proud guy who can shut down opponents, so he will lick his wounds for a minute and then recalibrate his approach for the Leafs' next game.
