    McDavid had two shots and finished minus-4 in a 5-1 loss to the Panthers in Game 6 on Tuesday in the Stanley Cup Finals. The kitties smothered both McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on Tuesday, and the rest of the Oilers had no response. Still, he and Draisaitl led all players in scoring with 33 points this postseason. But that's irrelevant to him when the Cup was being hoisted for the second straight season by his opponent.

McDavid's seven-game point streak was snapped in Game 3, a 6-1 loss Monday. The 28-year-old had six multi-point efforts in that span, but his return to the scoresheet Thursday was a little quieter, as he had the secondary helper on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' comeback-sparking tally in the second period. McDavid found the back of the net for the first time since March 18, but not even his four-point performance was enough to lift the Oilers to victory in this series opener. McDavid has been displaying unmatched consistency, though. He's recorded at least a point in each of his past 18 appearances, dating back to Feb. 23, notching 33 points (five goals, 28 assists) over that span. His play will be a huge factor in whether the Oilers manage to advance past this first-round series or not.

    McDavid logged an assist in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Sharks. Multiple injuries and a suspension limited McDavid to 67 appearances this season, but he still had time to reach the 100-point mark for the fifth year in a row and the eighth time in his 10 NHL campaigns. His 1.49 points-per-game in 2024-25 was his lowest scoring pace in six years, but he continues to be one of the most skilled and impressive players in the league. In addition to his 26 goals and 74 helpers, McDavid had 196 shots on net, 40 hits, 37 PIM and a plus-20 rating in 2024-25. He'll look to lead the Oilers in the playoffs as they meet the Kings in the first round for the fourth year in a row.

  • Oilers' Connor McDavid: Playing Wednesday

    McDavid (rest) will suit up for the regular-season finale against the Sharks on Wednesday, Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels reports. McDavid has played in just three of the Oilers' last 12 games but managed to garner nine helpers in that trio of appearances. The world-class center's absence Monday was deemed precautionary, so it shouldn't be a surprise to see him returning for the final game of the regular season. With just one more point, McDavid can reach the 100-point threshold for the eighth time in his 10-year NHL career.
