Stars' Esa Lindell: In lineup Wednesday
Lindell (rest) will return to the lineup Wednesday versus the Predators, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Lindell rested two games to prepare for the playoffs. He'll be back in a top-four role. The 30-year-old defenseman will play a key shutdown role in the first round versus the Avalanche, but don't be surprised if his minutes are managed in Wednesday's regular-season finale.

Officially, Lindell is being rested, but the fact that he is missing a second straight game would seem to indicate he is dealing with something. While the 30-year-old Finn is mired in a 10-game goal drought, he has chipped in four helpers over that stretch. At this point, Lindell should probably be considered questionable heading into Wednesday's matchup with Nashville, as the Stars may choose to rest him again in the regular-season finale.

Stars' Esa Lindell: Taking night off
Lindell (rest) won't play Saturday versus Utah.
Lindell has five goals, 26 points, 50 hits and 170 blocks in 79 appearances in 2024-25. According to the Stars, the defenseman will be out for maintenance, but given the time of year, it's reasonable to believe Dallas is simply giving him a night off to rest ahead of the playoffs. Brendan Smith will draw into the lineup because of Lindell's absence.

Lindell notched an assist and four blocked shots in Tuesday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Lindell set up a Mikael Granlund empty-netter before a historic last-minute collapse by the Stars. The assist was Lindell's fourth over the last five contests, a span in which he's added 12 blocks and a plus-3 rating. The 30-year-old shutdown blueliner has 26 points, 94 shots on net, 166 blocked shots, 49 hits and a plus-36 rating over 78 appearances. This matches his highest point total in any of the last six years, equaling his output from 82 games a year ago.

Lindell snapped a four-game skid with his pair of helpers. He set up Wyatt Johnston's go-ahead goal at 3:19 of the first period as well as a Mikael Granlund empty-netter in the third. Lindell scored for the first time since Jan. 25 versus the Blues, putting the Stars up 2-0 at 8:59 of the first period. Lindell scored a goal in Finland's 5-3 loss to Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off on Monday.
He scored with a shot from the far side of the right circle at 13:19 of the third period to get Finland on the board. Lindell isn't known for his offense, even if he had five points (one goal, four assists) in seven games heading into the tournament. Overall, he has four goals and 15 assists in 55 NHL games this season.
