  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: Loss snaps three-game win streak

Forsberg made 26 saves in a 5-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Thursday.

He allowed four goals. The loss snapped Forsberg's personal three-game win streak. He's now 8-10-1 in 20 starts with a 2.89 GAA and .893 save percentage. You need the perfect moment and a dash of luck to put Forsberg in your daily lineup.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: Set to start against Tampa Bay

Forsberg was the first goalie off during Thursday's morning skate, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports, indicating that he'll draw the road start against the Lightning.

Forsberg and Linus Ullmark have alternated starts for nearly two weeks, and that trend will continue during the Senators' penultimate game before the league's break for the 4 Nations Face-Off. Forsberg has been productive over his last three starts, going 3-0-0 with a 2.32 GAA and .923 save percentage, but he'll face a tough test Thursday, as the Lightning are averaging 3.46 goals this season, which is the third-best mark in the NHL.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: Nabs third straight win

Forsberg made 25 saves in Monday's 5-2 win over the Predators.

The veteran netminder continued a surge that began in mid-January while Linus Ullmark was sidelined by a back issue. Forsberg has won three straight starts, and over his last six outings, he's gone 4-1-0 with a 2.16 GAA and a .923 save percentage. With about a month to go until the NHL trade deadline, Forsberg could be making himself a very enticing target for a contender looking for depth in the crease. He'll be a free agent in the offseason, and Leevi Merilainen's stellar play during Ullmark's absence would seem to make Forsberg expendable.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: Starting in Nashville

Forsberg will guard the road goal versus the Predators on Monday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.

Forsberg has won his last two outings, stopping 59 of 64 shots. He has a 7-9-1 record with two shutouts, a 2.87 GAA and an .893 save percentage through 19 appearances this season. Nashville sits 30th in the league with 2.61 goals per game in 2024-25. Linus Ullmark (back) will occupy the backup role and could start Tuesday's road matchup versus Tampa Bay after missing the last 18 games.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: Back in win column

Forsberg turned aside 31 of 35 shots faced during Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Capitals.

Forsberg withstood a late comeback by the Capitals to force the overtime frame and held on long enough for Thomas Chabot to pot the game-winner. The 32-year-old has victories in three of his last four starts working in tandem with Leevi Merilainen while Linus Ullmark (back) remains on the injured list.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: First goalie off Thursday

Forsberg was the first goalie to leave the ice Thursday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports, indicating he'll be in goal at home versus Washington.

Forsberg has been seeing the bulk of the workload for Ottawa of late, appearing in four of the last five contests in which he posted a 2-1-0 record, 1.70 GAA and .935 save percentage. Still, with Linus Ullmark (back) poised to return soon -- perhaps even serving as the No. 2 Thursday -- Forsberg will likely find himself sharing the crease, at best, if not fully relegated to the backup role.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: Playing best hockey of season

Forsberg made 28 saves for the Senators in a 2-1 victory over the Maple Leafs on Saturday.

In his last three starts, Forsberg has allowed just three goals, one in each contest (2-1-0). And he's done it against the Devils, Bruins and Maple Leafs -- that's impressive. However, that excludes a relief appearance against the Rangers on Tuesday in which he allowed three goals on 13 shots. Forsberg has struggled to string great performances together. He went 3-1-0, including two shutouts, from Oct. 19-Nov. 2, but he also allowed eight goals in the other two contests. Perhaps Leevi Merilainen's strong play is pushing the Swede to up his game, and if that's the case, then Forsberg could end up providing sneaky fantasy value over the second half. However, it's not clear what will happen when Linus Ullmark (back) returns. Perhaps Forsberg will back Ullmark up while Merilainen will return to the minors. Alternatively, Forsberg might be a potential trade candidate to serve in a support role on a contender. Monitor closely, especially for daily formats.

Forsberg will patrol the home crease versus Toronto on Saturday, according to TSN 1200 Ottawa.

Forsberg has been strong in his last two starts, allowing two goals on 51 shots. He made a relief appearance between those contests, giving up three goals on 13 shots against the Rangers. Forsberg is 5-9-1 with two shutouts, a 2.92 GAA and an .889 save percentage across 17 appearances this season. The Maple Leafs sit 11th in the NHL with 3.12 goals per game this campaign.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: Great effort wasted by mates

Forsberg made 24 saves in a 2-0 loss to Boston on Thursday.

He allowed one goal in a duel with former platoon-mate, Joonas Korpisalo. He was great, but the rest of the Sens didn't show up. Forsberg has allowed just one goal in each of his last two starts, but at the same time, he's just 1-5-1 with 23 goals allowed in his last seven starts (eight games). Forsberg is a tough fantasy activation.

Forsberg stopped 10 of 13 shots in relief in Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the Rangers.

Leevi Merilainen allowed two goals on 16 shots before he was replaced by Forsberg at the 4:59 mark of the second period. However, Forsberg didn't fare much better and allowed three more goals in what ended up being an easy win for the Rangers. Forsberg has won just once in his last five appearances, going 1-2-1 with a 3.25 GAA and an .873 save percentage in that span.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: Back in win column

Forsberg turned aside 25 of 26 shots in Sunday's 2-1 win over New Jersey.

Forsberg was excellent Sunday in a tightly contested road victory, allowing fewer than three goals in a game for just the third time this season. This was his first win since Nov. 25, but he missed most of December with a lower-body injury. The 32-year-old has conceded 12 goals on 105 shots through four appearances in January, turning in a 1-2-1 record in that span. Overall, Forsberg is 5-8-1 with an .888 save percentage and a 2.95 GAA through 15 starts in 2024-25.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: Gets no help in loss

Forsberg stopped 17 shots in Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Sabres.

It was a rough night for Ottawa in all three zones and Forsberg was hung out to dry, with Buffalo's final tally deflecting in off Thomas Chabot's leg. The veteran netminder has gone 0-2-1 while starting three straight games since returning from a lower-body injury, giving up 11 goals on 79 shots (.861 save percentage). There's no timeline yet for Linus Ullmark (back) to rejoin the Sens, but Forsberg will likely begin ceding work back to Leevi Merilainen unless he can turn things around.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: First goalie off

Forsberg was the first goalie to leave the ice Thursday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports, indicating he'll tend the twine at home versus Buffalo.

Forsberg hasn't exactly impressed since returning from a lower-body injury, going 0-1-1 in two appearances to go with a 3.44 GAA. Still, with a back-to-back upcoming, Forsberg figures to split games against the Penguins and Stars on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, with Leevi Merilainen. Once Linus Ullmark (back) is cleared to play, Forsberg figures to once again be relegated to the No. 2 role in Ottawa.

  • Senators' Anton Forsberg: Falls to Wings in OT

Forsberg made 30 saves in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Red Wings.

Two of Detroit's goals came on the power play, including Patrick Kane's OT winner. Forsberg has started two straight games since returning from a lower-body injury, allowing seven goals on 58 shots, and he seems poised to handle No. 1 duties for the Senators over 22-year-old rookie Leevi Merilainen until Linus Ullmark (back) is healthy again.

Forsberg made his first start since Dec. 8 in a 4-0 loss to the Blues on Friday after missing nine games due to a lower-body injury. The Swedish netminder has struggled in 2024-25, but he'll have an opportunity to prove his worth due to Linus Ullmark (back) being placed on injured reserve Tuesday. The Red Wings are 4-1-0 since Todd McLellan took over as head coach Dec. 26.

Forsberg stopped 21 of 25 shots in Friday's 4-0 loss to the Blues.

Forsberg returned from a nine-game absence due to a lower-body injury. His Senators teammates failed to provide any scoring support, and Forsberg let in a goal to Brayden Schenn and three more to Brandon Saad in the loss. Forsberg is down to 4-7-0 with a 3.04 GAA and an .885 save percentage over 12 appearances this season. He could share the playing time between the pipes with Leevi Merilainen until Linus Ullmark (back) is able to return. The Senators wrap up a nine-game road trip Tuesday in Detroit.
