Golston logged two solo tackles during Saturday's preseason opener against the Vikings.
Golston played 31 percent of the defensive snaps for the Giants in the contest. The backup weakside linebacker had a solid showing, recording a solo tackle on 11 percent of his defensive snaps. Giants' Malachi Fields: Hauls in score in preseason opener
Fields caught all three of his targets for 34 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 13-10 preseason loss to the Vikings.
The rookie wideout needed every inch of his 6-foot-4 frame on the Giants' lone TD of the afternoon. Early in the second quarter, Jaxson Dart got flushed out of the pocket and tossed up an off-balance 15-yard pass into the end zone that Fields skied to snag over 5-foot-10 linebacker Ivan Pace in coverage. Fields, a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, has a clear path to the No. 2 receiver job in New York, with veteran holdover Darius Slayton and former Steeler Calvin Austin as his main competition. Standing out as a red-zone threat to complement Malik Nabers might be Fields' best way to win it.

Giants' Isaiah Likely: Two grabs in preseason loss
Likely caught both his targets for 11 yards in Saturday's 13-10 preseason loss to the Vikings.
The fifth-year tight end signed a big three-year deal in March to follow coach John Harbaugh over from the Ravens, and QB Jaxson Dart looked Likely's way for third-down conversions on both his drives before the Giants' starters left the contest. It's an encouraging start to the duo's chemistry, and Likely could wind up being Dart's go-to option to move the sticks with wideout Malik Nabers drawing the eyes of the secondary as the top downfield threat. That said, Likely has never topped 42 catches or 477 yards in an NFL season, so it's not clear if he has the physical upside to become an elite fantasy option at tight end.

Giants' Tyrone Tracy: Just two touches in preseason opener
Tracy carried the ball twice for five yards in Saturday's 13-10 preseason loss to the Vikings. He failed to catch his only target.
The Giants' starters on offense played just two possessions in their preseason opener, but the backfield ended up being a three-way committee as Tracy, Cam Skattebo and Devin Singletary all mixed in. Tracy wound up having the worst day of the trio, as Skattebo managed 19 yards on four carries while Singletary also had four touches, including a 40-yard reception from Jameis Winston on a 3rd-and-23 early in the second quarter that helped set up New York's only TD of the day. Skattebo stands at the top of the depth chart, with Tracy expected to be the primary passing-down option, but Saturday's usage at least hints that their roles and volume may not be so clear-cut under new coach John Harbaugh.

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Plays two series in preseason opener
Dart completed three of four passes for 26 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 13-10 preseason loss to the Vikings.
The second-year QB got the start in the Giants' exhibition opener and handled the first two possessions, finishing the second with an off-balance 15-yard touchdown toss to rookie wideout Malachi Fields as Dart scrambled out of the pocket to avoid pressure. Dart didn't pick up any yards on the ground, continuing a focus on reining in the reckless playing style that led to concussion issues in 2025. He should still do damage with his legs once the regular season begins after gaining 487 rushing yards and nine TDs last year, but with more skill-position talent around him on the roster and better protection from an upgraded offensive line, Dart may not feel compelled to scramble as often in 2026.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Starts preseason game, takes four carries
Skattebo started Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, taking four carries for 19 yards over the first two drives.
Tyrone Tracy lined up with the starters in warmups, but Skattebo got the nod come game time and took two carries for seven yards on the first two snaps. Tracy then had a carry and a target (for no gain) later on the opening drive, which ended when his missed block got QB Jaxson Dart thrown to the turf. Dart returned for the second drive, handing off to Devin Singletary on the first two plays. Skattebo then subbed in for carries of five and seven yards on back-to-back plays before giving way to Tracy (and then Singletary) for the rest of the series Dante Miller and Eric Gray then took over backfield work for the rest of the half. Sharing first-team snaps with two other RBs may not seem encouraging for Skattebo's fantasy value, but he did have the best afternoon of the trio in his first game back from major surgery. He'll likely get a larger share of the workload come Week 1.

Dart and the other starters shouldn't see more than one or two series during Saturday's exhibition contest, but it will be the first time head coach John Harbaugh coaches from the sidelines for the Giants after an 18-season tenure with the Ravens. James was waived/injured by the Giants on Thursday and went unclaimed. The cornerback will now spend the entirety of the 2026 season on injured reserve unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team. James played two defensive snaps and five special-teams snaps over one regular-season game for the Patriots in 2025.
