  • Lions' Patrick O'Connor: Returning to Detroit

O'Connor and the Lions agreed on a contract Tuesday.

O'Connor will return to Detroit after recording a career-high 18 total tackles (five solo), including 1.0 sacks, over 12 regular-season games in 2024. The defensive end will provide the Lions with another depth option behind Aidan Hutchinson (lower leg) and Josh Paschal in 2025.

  • Lions' Shane Zylstra: Staying in Motor City

Detroit will re-sign Zylstra for the 2025 season, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.

The Lions added Zylstra to the active roster from their practice squad in November of 2024, and over 13 games including the playoffs, he caught his only target for 22 yards. He also contributed on special teams, logging more snaps in that phase than on offense for the first time in his career. Barring injuries, his role on Detroit's offense is likely to be minor in 2025.

  • Lions' Kenny Yeboah: Moving to NFC

The Lions signed Yeboah to a one-year contract Friday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Yeboah played his first four NFL campaigns with the Jets, with most of his work during that span coming on special teams. He did log a career-high five catches and 47 receiving yards last season while nabbing his first NFL touchdown Week 11 against Indianapolis. The Lions have Sam LaPorta and Brock Wright leading their tight-end corps, so Yeboah's role will likely center around blocking and special teams.

  • Lions' Trevor Nowaske: Re-signs with Detroit

Nowaske re-signed with the Lions on Thursday, Kory Woods of MLive reports.

Nowaske will return to Detroit for another year after playing in 14 regular-season games this past season as a reserve linebacker and primary special-teamer. The 26-year-old started two games for a Detroit defense ravaged by the injury bug last season, and he's expected to return to a similar role with the special-teams unit in 2025.

  • Lions' Grant Stuard: Signs with Detroit

Stuard agreed to a deal with the Lions on Thursday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Stuard spent the previous three seasons in Indianapolis, primarily utilized on special teams, but he did record 11 tackles in a spot start Week 7 of the 2024 campaign. The 26-year-old will likely reprise a similar role on his new team and provide needed depth to Detroit's linebacker corps.

  • Lions' Tim Patrick: Staying in Detroit

Patrick re-signed with Detroit on Friday.

The Lions signed Patrick to their practice squad in August, shortly after he was released by the Broncos. He ended up handling the No. 3 receiver role for most of the season, catching 33 of 44 targets for 394 yards and three TDs in 16 regular-season games. A return to mainstream fantasy relevance is highly unlikely for the 31-year-old, but he should at least compete for the third or fourth WR spot in Detroit again.

Allen agreed to terms with the Lions on Thursday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Allen spent the 2024 season with Pittsburgh and operated as their emergency quarterback for most of the campaign. He'll now join the Lions' quarterback room as an experienced backup, and he will likely compete with Hendon Hooker for the No. 2 job to Jared Goff.

  • Lions' Craig Reynolds: Returning to Detroit

The Lions re-signed Reynolds to a one-year contract Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Reynolds wasn't tendered by the Lions as a restricted free agent, and he's instead returning to the team at a reduced rate. The 28-year-old appeared in all 17 regular-season games for Detroit last season, rushing 31 times for 139 scoreless yards (4.5 YPC), while adding three catches for 40 yards on five targets in the passing game. He played a career-high 272 special-teams snaps. Reynolds will continue to provide quality depth behind Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
