49ers' Kurtis Rourke: Officially out for 2025
Rourke (knee) will remain on the 49ers' reserve/non-football injury list for the rest of the 2025 season, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Rourke opened the 2025 regular season on the NFI list while recovering from a torn ACL that he sustained during his final collegiate season at Indiana. He was designated to return from the NFI in early December, but with his 21-day practice window closing, the rookie seventh-rounder will not be available for the rest of the 2025 campaign. Rourke will turn his attention toward being available for the start of the 2026 season, when he'll likely compete for the backup quarterback job behind Brock Purdy.

49ers' Kurtis Rourke: Won't return Week 17
Rourke (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Chicago, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Rourke is in the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACL that he suffered during his final collegiate season at Indiana. He's not quite ready to return, but given his 21-day practice window opened Dec. 8, he would need to be activated from the NFI list ahead of the 49ers' Week 18 tilt against the Seahawks. If Rourke is not activated, then he would not be available for the 49ers' regular-season finale or their postseason run.

49ers' Kurtis Rourke: Ruled out for Week 16
Rourke (knee) is ruled out for Monday's game against the Colts, Briana Jeannel of the team's official site reports.
Rourke will remain on the reserve/non-football injury list for at least one more week. The rookie seventh-round pick has managed to practice in full since having his 21-day practice window opened Dec. 8, but he's nonetheless not ready to join the 53-man roster.

49ers' Kurtis Rourke: Won't be available Sunday
Rourke (knee) is out for Sunday's game versus the Titans, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Rourke will have to wait at least one more week to suit up for his first NFL game as he continues to recover from the torn ACL he suffered in his final year at Indiana. Mac Jones should continue to serve as San Francisco's top option at backup quarterback behind starter Brock Purdy.

49ers' Kurtis Rourke: Logs full practice
Rourke (knee) practiced in full Wednesday.
Rourke has been sidelined for his entire rookie season after undergoing surgery to repair his knee Jan. 8. He was originally expected back for training camp, though his recovery has clearly taken significantly longer. Rourke was designated to return Monday, so it's unclear if he'll be activated for a Week 15 matchup against the Titans.

49ers' Kurtis Rourke: Practice window opened
Rourke (knee) had his 21-day practice window opened Monday by the 49ers.
Rourke has been sidelined since late August while on the reserve/non-football injury list with a pre-existing knee injury from his final college campaign with Indiana. The team will now have 21 days to activate him from the NFI list, or he'll be forced to sit out the remainder of the season.

49ers' Kurtis Rourke: Shifts to NFI list
Rourke (knee) was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list Tuesday.
Rourke played his entire final season at Indiana on a torn ACL but managed to throw for 3,042 yards, 29 touchdowns and five interceptions through 12 games, vaulting the Hoosiers to the College Football Playoff. He underwent surgery Jan. 8 and was subsequently drafted in the seventh round by the 49ers. Due to his recovery, he didn't participate in rookie camp or training camp, and he'll be required to miss at least four games due to his placement on the NFI list. The 49ers can take their time with his recovery as long as Brock Purdy and Mac Jones (knee) are upright, as Rourke projects for the No. 3 role upon return.

49ers' Kurtis Rourke: Begins camp on NFI
The 49ers placed Rourke (knee) on the active/non-football injury list Wednesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Rourke played his final collegiate season with a torn ACL in 2024 at Indiana. The 49ers used a seventh-round pick on the quarterback, but he's not expected to practice this summer. San Francisco signed Mac Jones to operate as Brock Purdy's backup this season.

49ers' Kurtis Rourke: Won't play in rookie camp
Rourke (knee) won't participate in the 49ers' rookie camp, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The 2025 seventh-round pick played his final collegiate season on a torn ACL, so it's no surprise that he won't be ready for San Francisco's rookie minicamp. During Rourke's final season at Indiana, he threw for 3,042 yards, 29 touchdowns and five picks, while also adding two rushing touchdowns. Once the 24-year-old returns from his ACL injury, he's expected to compete for a depth role in the 49ers' quarterback room.
