  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Makes three catches in loss

Pierce caught all three of his targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 21-13 loss to the Vikings. Pierce's 41 receiving yards were second on the team behind Josh Downs' 60, while no other teammate had more than 22. After posting 368 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 17 targets through Week 5, Pierce has cooled off with only 67 yards and no touchdowns on 16 targets over the last four games. Getting back on track won't be easy in Week 10 against a Bills defense that tends to limit the big downfield plays on which Pierce thrives.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Just one reception in loss

Pierce had one reception for 15 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss at Houston. Pierce was able to get open deep several times, but quarterback Anthony Richardson struggled to make accurate passes to make a connection. Pierce remains one of Richardson's favorite targets but is going to be a boom-or-bust option for fantasy purposes each week as is he's mostly a deep threat in the offense.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Two receptions in win

Pierce had two receptions for 15 yards on five targets in Sunday's win over Miami. It was a bounce-back performance after he didn't have a catch or target in a Week 6 win at Tennessee. However, he could have had a better game if not for a drop on a wide open, easy target. Pierce remains one of Anthony Richardson's favorite targets but is going to be a boom-or-bust option for fantasy purposes each week as is he's mostly a deep threat in the offense.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Suiting up Sunday

Pierce (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Pierce missed practice Thursday due to the shoulder issue, and despite taking a questionable tag into the weekend, he cleared up most of the concern about his health by turning in a full practice Friday. He'll be available Sunday along with fellow wideouts Michael Pittman (back) and Josh Downs (toe) -- who were also listed as questionable -- with Pierce likely to serve as a downfield threat for strong-armed quarterback Anthony Richardson. With 368 receiving yards and three touchdowns through six games, Pierce has fared well with both Richardson and Joe Flacco under center, but he's achieved his production on a likely unsustainable 17.5 yards per target. With steady involvement in the passing game not guaranteed, Pierce profiles as a boom-or-bust fantasy option, with his weekly utility likely hinging on him finding the end zone or making a huge play downfield.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: One of three questionable Colts WRs

Pierce (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Friday but is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Pierce, Josh Downs (toe) and Michael Pittman (back) all are listed as questionable. Coach Shane Steichen said Pittman will play despite logging a DNP on Friday, and Pierce also looks more likely than not to suit up, while Downs' status is up in the air after Friday's limited session. Of the Colts' top three wide receivers, Pierce will likely be the least negatively impacted by Anthony Richardson's (oblique) return under center Sunday, as Pierce has shown good downfield chemistry with both Richardson and Joe Flacco.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Returns to practice

Pierce (shoulder) is participating in Friday's practice, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Pierce was added to the injury report as a non-participant Thursday due to a shoulder issue. To see Pierce back on the practice field Friday is encouraging as to his chances of suiting up Sunday versus the Dolphins. Friday's official practice report will reveal whether or not Pierce carries an injury designation approaching Week 7 action.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Team-high yardage tally in loss

Pierce secured all three targets for 134 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 37-34 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. Pierce put together a signature stat line, one that was almost identical to the three-catch, 125-yard, one-touchdown effort he kicked his season off with against the Texans. The third-year pro came to life late in the contest, recording 24- and 46-yard grabs on a quick three-play drive in the latter portion of the fourth quarter, with the latter catch initially ruled a touchdown before being overturned via replay. However, Pierce made up for it on the next possession, hauling in a 65-yard touchdown grab down the left side of the field with under three minutes remaining. Pierce's production is certainly difficult to trust week to week, but considering he's now achieved 100-yard performances with both Anthony Richardson (hip/oblique) and Joe Flacco as his quarterback, he remains a weekly consideration in deeper leagues and in DFS contests.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Quiet against Pittsburgh

Pierce recorded one reception on two targets for nine yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Steelers. Pierce has produced through big plays early this season, as he's tallied three catches of more than 40 yards in four games. He got one deep target from Joe Flacco just before halftime against the Steelers, but he was well covered by Donte Jackson and the pass fell incomplete. Pierce will likely have productive games due to his explosive potential, but he'll be an inconsistent contributor.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Hauls in another deep pass

Pierce caught one of two targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 21-16 win over the Bears. Despite hauling in only one pass, Pierce led the Colts in receiving yards. The reception was already his third of the season of 40-plus yards, tying his career high, but his target volume took a big hit Sunday with Josh Downs (ankle) back in the lineup. Pierce could have trouble getting open deep in Week 4 against a stingy Steelers secondary.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Listed as co-starter at No. 3 WR

Pierce and rookie Adonai Mitchell are listed as co-starters at the third wide receiver spot on the Colts' first unofficial depth chart. Mitchell and Pierce have been splitting time with the first-team offense so far in training camp, with reports suggesting Pierce has been more productive but Mitchell has had impressive moments. It's still early in the competition for playing time, but it's notable that the Colts are giving the rookie equal billing so soon rather than deferring to the more senior wideout. Pierce has underwhelmed in his two seasons with the Colts, averaging just 554 yards and two touchdowns a year, so there's some risk he could quickly lose playing time to Mitchell, a 2024 second-round pick.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Sitting out practice

Pierce (foot) is not practicing Thursday, the final day of mandatory minicamp, as a precautionary measure, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports. Pierce hasn't practice this week after his foot was stepped on in a previous practice, but it doesn't appear that there's any worry about his status for training camp. The 2022 second-round pick is competing with rookie second-rounder Adonai Mitchell for No. 3 receiver reps behind Michael Pittman (knee) and Josh Downs, so missing any amount of time could portent a hit to Pierce's stock. In two seasons with the Colts, Pierce has averaged a mediocre 554 yards and two touchdowns, but he could've been held back by questionable quarterback play.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Competition for starting job

Pierce and 2024 second-round draft pick Adonai Mitchell will compete on the outside for the No. 3 receiver role in training camp, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Pierce has been the starting deep threat for the Colts the last two campaigns but without much production (just 32 receptions for 514 yards and two touchdowns last season). While that may have been due to poor quarterback play and a game plan that didn't throw the ball deep, it has opened the door for a dynamic talent like Mitchell to compete for his job. Mitchell, the former Texas and Georgia receiver, dazzled at the NFL Scouting Combine (4.34-second 40-yard dash, 136-inch broad jump) following a productive end to his Longhorns career (55 catches for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns on 92 targets in 2023).

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Held catchless in season finale

Pierce went without a reception on four targets in Saturday's 23-19 loss to the Texans. Pierce was held without a catch for the second time this season in what has been an underwhelming campaign for the 23-year-old. In 17 games, the second-year wideout finished the season with 32 receptions for 514 yards and two touchdowns. Pierce remains under contract with the Colts through the 2025 season, so the speedster will look to continue to improve and grow in his role within the passing attack. The return of Anthony Richardson (shoulder) at quarterback in 2024 should help to make the offense more dynamic, boosting Pierce's big-play potential.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Makes sole target count

Pierce caught one pass for a 58-yard touchdown on one target in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Raiders. Pierce's big-play ability downfield is nothing new, but as his target count from even this game illustrates, the Indianapolis offense just isn't built to feature regular target opportunities for Pierce. As the fastest Colts wideout, it's often Pierce who's stuck with running decoy routes far downfield, which helps buy cover for Michael Pittman and Josh Downs underneath. Usually defenses take appropriate precautions to keep Pierce from getting open downfield, but on his touchdown catch Sunday the Raiders made the mistake of leaving Pierce alone against the 5-foot-8 Amik Robertson, who had no means of defense against the 6-foot-3 Pierce. Until the Colts feature Pierce on a wider variety of routes, his game will likely remain boom-or-bust for fantasy purposes.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Quiet despite Pittman absence

Pierce brought in three of seven targets for 30 yards in the Colts' 29-10 loss to the Falcons on Sunday. Despite the absence of Michael Pittman (concussion), Pierce was unable to capitalize on what tied for his highest target total of the campaign. Outside of his 3-100-1 line against the Titans in Week 13, Pierce has topped out at three receptions and 53 yards in terms of single-game highs in his 13 other contests. He could see more opportunity than usual again in Week 17 at home against the Raiders if Pittman is forced to miss that contest.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Week 16 Waiver Priority List

The Colts could need help in their receiving corps if Michael Pittman (concussion) is out in Week 16 at Atlanta, and Josh Downs (70 percent rostered), Pierce and D.J. Montgomery (1 percent) are all worth a look. I'd lean toward Downs first, even though he struggled recently, but he has the most upside of this trio. While he's been held to 9.3 PPR points or less in six games in a row, he still has the best rapport with Gardner Minshew, which should matter. Pierce only has one game this season with more than 8.3 PPR points, but he could be a big-play threat for Minshew if he sees an increase in targets. And Montgomery just had his first catches of the season in Week 15 with two receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown on four targets (he also dropped a touchdown against Pittsburgh), and he would also get a boost in value with Pittman sidelined. I rank them Downs, Pierce and Montgomery, but hopefully Pittman will play and dominate as always.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: First 100-yard performance

Pierce recorded three receptions on six targets for 100 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 31-28 overtime win over the Titans. Pierce made the most of limited opportunity, as he opened his performance with a 36-yard touchdown to cap the Colts' first offensive possession. It took until overtime, but Pierce delivered another explosive play on a 55-yard reception to set up the game-winning score two plays later. The performance marked Pierce's first career 100-yard game and only the second time this season that he's topped 50 yards.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Week 14 Early Waiver Targets (Add/Drop)

Pierce gave the Colts something they've been missing this season in Week 13 against the Titans: A deep threat. Pierce hit on a couple of long shots Sunday, including right from the jump with a 36-yard score on the team's first drive of the game. He added another 55-yarder later during a six-target game. Pierce hasn't taken the step forward we were hoping for in his second season, but maybe this can be the start.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Four receptions in win

Pierce had four receptions for 27 yards on six targets in Sunday's 27-20 win against Tampa Bay. After recording just one reception for 21 yards over his last two games, Pierce was more involved against Tampa Bay. He had his most receptions in a game this season, which speaks more to his lack of production in the offense. He continues to get a heavy workload as a starting wide receiver but few receptions as Indy's main deep threat.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: One grab in win

Pierce caught his only target for 21 yards in Sunday's 10-6 win over the Patriots. Pierce's modest production continued Sunday, as his one target in the contest was his lowest of the season. The 23-year-old wideout has been consistently underwhelming this season despite playing a high-percentage of the Colts' offensive snaps every week. Pierce played 96 percent of the offensive snaps against the Patriots, ahead of fellow receivers Michael Pittman and Josh Downs, the latter of whom was limited due to a knee injury. Going forward, Pierce will likely be little more than a touchdown-dependent fantasy option, especially if Downs is able to handle a larger workload coming out of the Colts' Week 11 bye.
