Eagles' Cam Jurgens: Undergoes back surgery
Jurgens (back) underwent a procedure Tuesday to address a back injury that hampered him throughout the 2024 season, including Philadelphia's victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Jurgens, who earned Pro Bowl honors in 2024, managed to play in Super Bowl LIX but wasn't able to start at center in Philadelphia's NFC Championship Game victory over Washington. He's expected to be fully recovered in July in time for the start of training camp. The 2025 campaign will be the final year of Jurgens' rookie contract.

Eagles' Cam Jurgens: Cleared to face Kansas City
Jurgens (back) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's Super Bowl LIX matchup versus Kansas City.
Jurgens practiced in full this week, and both he and LG Landon Dickerson (knee) are cleared to play Sunday. Jurgens was unable to start the NFC Championship Game two weeks ago against the Commanders but did come on in relief after Dickerson went down with an injury. Jurgens should be back at center for the Super Bowl, allowing Dickerson to kick back to left guard.

Jurgens (back) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
Jurgens was unable to start at center in the Eagles' NFC Championship Game victory over the Commanders due to a back injury. The additional week off has helped the 2022 second-round pick make enough progress in his recovery to participate fully in practices. Barring any setbacks, Jurgens should be given the green light to play in Sunday's Super Bowl matchup with the Chiefs.

Jurgens (back) doesn't carry an injury designation for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Feb. 9 against the Chiefs.
Jurgens wasn't able to start the NFC Championship Game against the Commanders due to the injury, but he was able to come on in relief of an injured Landon Dickerson (knee) to play 27 offensive snaps. Both Dickerson and Jurgens are now cleared to face Kansas City on Feb. 9.
