Reed (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game at Tennessee.
Coach Robert Saleh said Friday that Reed was on track to play in Week 2, but evidently he's not back to full strength yet. In his absence, Brandin Echols will likely start on the boundary across from either Calvin Ridley or DeAndre Hopkins.

Jets' D.J. Reed: Ready to rock
Coach Robert Saleh said Friday that Reed (knee) will practice in full to end the week and play Sunday versus the Titans, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Reed practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, but it doesn't look like his knee injury will hamper him Week 2. The starting cornerback played every defensive snap in Monday's loss to the 49ers, racking up nine total tackles (seven solo) and one defensed pass.

Jets' D.J. Reed: Questionable for Week 2
Reed (knee) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Titans, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Head coach Robert Saleh told reporter earlier that Reed would practice in full Friday and play in Week 2. However, the 27-year-old was re-evaluated and missed Friday's practice due to a knee injury, which appears to be a step in the wrong direction. If the Kansas State product is unable to suit up Sunday, expect Qwan'tez Stiggers and Brandin Echols to see increased snaps in the Jets' secondary.

Jets' D.J. Reed: Still not a full go
Reed (knee) logged a limited practice Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Despite playing every defensive snap in Monday's loss to the 49ers, Reed has been limited in practice this week. However, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com noted Wednesday that head coach Robert Salah expects the 27-year-old to be able to play Sunday against the Titans. Barring any setbacks, Reed should be on the field in Week 2.

Reed (knee) logged nine total tackles (seven solo) and defended one pass during Monday night's 32-19 loss to the 49ers.
Reed was one of the few bright spots on the Jets' defense in Week 1, tying C.J. Mosley for the second-most total tackles on either team Monday night. The 27-year-old cornerback had one of the best seasons of his career in 2023, appearing in 15 regular-season games, recording 76 total tackles and defending nine passes, including one interception. Expect Reed to continue causing problems for opposing quarterbacks as the Jets travel to Tennessee in Week 2.

Reed (knee) will be listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Reed played 100 percent of the team's defensive snaps in Monday's loss to the 49ers but seems to have picked up an injury at some point during the game. The injury doesn't seem to be serious though, as Cimini notes. According to head coach Robert Saleh, the Kansas State product should play Sunday against the Titans.

Jets' D.J. Reed: Formidable CB trio with Sauce, MCII
Reed finished the 2023 season with 76 tackles (62 solo) and one interception among his nine passes defensed in 15 games.
Sauce Gardner, Reed and nickel cornerback Michael Carter formed the league's stingiest cornerback trio. Reed is the senior member of that group at age 27, and he has been remarkably consistent, posting between 76 and 80 tackles and between nine and 12 passes defensed in each of his last three seasons. All three cornerbacks are projected to be back in 2024, with Reed entering the final year of his contract with the Jets.
