Jaire Alexander: Release made official
Alexander (knee) was released by the Packers on Monday.
The official move releasing Alexander comes shortly after the team informed the veteran cornerback of its intention to release him. Alexander and the Packers failed to agree to a reworked contract after he appeared in only seven games each of the past two regular seasons, failing to play up to the level expected when he signed a four-year, $84 million contract in 2022. Once he demonstrates that his knee is healthy, the 28-year-old cornerback will likely have a robust market in free agency.

Packers' Jaire Alexander: In line to be released
The Packers informed Alexander (knee) on Monday that he will be released, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Green Bay will save roughly $17.1 million of the $24.6 million cap hit Alexander carries for the 2025 season by designating him a post-June 1 cut, per OverTheCap.com. The 2018 first-round pick had skipped all in-person, voluntary workouts with the Packers to this point in the offseason, though Demovsky reports that Alexander planned to report for mandatory minicamp. One of the league's best cornerbacks when he's healthy, injuries limited Alexander to just seven regular-season appearances in both 2023 and 2024. The combination of health concerns and the two years remaining on Alexander's four-year, $84 million contract evidently made it impossible for Green Bay to find a trade partner for the two-time Pro Bowler. The Packers reportedly recently offered Alexander a revised deal, but with no agreement being reached, his release is an unsurprising outcome.

Packers' Jaire Alexander: Could remain in Green Bay
Alexander (knee) could still play for the Packers in 2025, though a trade or release also remain possible outcomes, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Alexander is participating in Green Bay's voluntary offseason program, and the team's only addition at cornerback in the 2025 NFL Draft was Michigan's Micah Robinson, taken in the seventh round. Following the draft, however, general manager Brian Gutekunst said there were "no updates" on Alexander's status, per Demovsky. The two-time Pro Bowler has been limited the last two seasons due to injuries and is currently working his way back from surgery to address a right PCL tear, and he has two years remaining on his current contract. While all options remain on the table, a reconciliation between both sides might be the best outcome for Green Bay based on the team's current roster.

Packers' Jaire Alexander: Participating in offseason program
Alexander (knee) participated in the Packers' virtual offseason program this past week, Wes Hodkiewicz of the team's official site reports.
There were discussions within the Packers' organization during the offseason about trading Alexander, but the two-time Pro Bowl corner is still on Green Bay's roster following the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft. General manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters Saturday that Alexander "[is] still on our roster right now...we'll figure that out as we go along." Injuries have limited Alexander to 14 regular-season games over the past two years, and he's currently working through a knee injury that caused him to miss the Packers' final eight games of 2024 (including playoffs) and required surgery in late December.
