  • Tae Crowder: Waived by Pittsburgh

The Steelers waived Crowder on Monday.

Crowder was a seventh-round pick by the Giants in 2020 and appeared in 41 contests before being waived in December. He returned to New York via a practice-squad deal and was subsequently signed to the Steelers' 53-man roster, though he never appeared in a game for Pittsburgh. Crowder will look to join his third team in less than a calendar year and should draw some interest around the league considering he's recorded 232 tackles in three seasons.

  • Steelers' Tae Crowder: Lands in Pittsburgh

Crowder was signed to the Steelers' 53-man roster from the Giants' practice squad Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.

Crowder's addition to the team's linebacker corps comes as they placed Marcus Allen (biceps) on injured reserve Tuesday. He'll likely provide depth at the position, while also chipping in on special teams.

  • Tae Crowder: Let go by Giants

The Giants waived Crowder on Tuesday.

Crowder, who opened the season as one of New York's defensive starters, has since been let go as a result of Tuesday's transaction. Since being drafted by the Giants in 2020, the 235-pound linebacker has collected 232 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and eight passes defensed across 41 games played. He'll now search elsewhere for an opportunity to continue his NFL journey.

  • Giants' Tae Crowder: Benched for Week 10

Crowder will operate as a backup during Sunday's matchup against Houston, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Micah McFadden is expected to replace Crowder as the starter for Week 10, but it remains to be seen if it's a permanent move. Crowder recorded 37 tackles and a sack across the first seven games of the season, but he played a season-low 21 defensive snaps in Week 8 and appears to have been supplanted during the Giants' Week 9 bye.

  • Giants' Tae Crowder: Posts big numbers in Week 4 win

Crowder tallied 11 tackles (seven solo), including one sack, and forced a fumble against Chicago in Sunday's 20-12 victory.

New York's third win of the season came largely on the back of its defense, and Crowder led the charge with a team-high 11 tackles. He got to opposing quarterback Justin Fields in the second quarter for his first sack of the campaign and was credited with a forced fumble on the final play of the contest, which consisted of numerous Bears laterals. Crowder's 11 tackles were a high mark so far this season, though he hasn't posted consistent enough totals thus far to be a reliable fantasy asset.

  • Giants' Tae Crowder: Paces Giants in tackles in opener

Crowder collected seven tackles (four solo) in a 21-20 win against Tennessee on Sunday.

With Blake Martinez released by New York just before the start of the season, Crowder's role as the team's leading linebacker is secure. The Georgia product paced New York with 130 stops last season and carried that over to the 2022 opener, leading the squad with seven tackles. Crowder isn't without flaws, but he rarely leaves the field and has been able to parlay his role into IDP consideration on the strength of his tackle totals.

  • Giants' Tae Crowder: Racks up 130 tackles

With Blake Martinez out for the season in Week 3, Crowder became the team's leading tackle with 130 and also picked off two passes.

Crowder also had the ninth most snaps among all defensive players, so he was mostly a compiler, but he should have a significant role against next year, even with Martinez set to return.
