David Andrews: Fails physical
Andrews (shoulder) was released by the Patriots on Thursday with a failed physical designation, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The 32-year-old played just four games in 2024 due to the injury and is in the process of rehabbing from surgery. The failed physical designation likely indicates the severity of the injury. Andrews spent 10 seasons in New England, won two Super Bowls and was named a captain in eight different campaigns, but he will now have to make a decision about his future.

David Andrews: Time in New England ends
The Patriots announced Thursday that Andrews (shoulder) is being released.
Andrews spent 10 seasons with New England, in which span he became a two-time Super Bowl champion and was named captain on eight occasions. The 32-year-old center is now rehabbing from right shoulder surgery, which limited him to four appearances in 2024. Now a free agent, it's possible that Andrews could opt to retire, depending both on his health and the interest he receives from other teams.

Patriots' David Andrews: Hoping to be ready next season
Andrews (shoulder) said Monday that his surgery went well and he hopes to be the Patriots' starting center next season, Chris Mason of The Springfield Republican reports.
Andrews has been out of action since October due to a torn right rotator cuff. The Georgia product still has one year left on his contract, so unless he is released, he should have the opportunity to be New England's center next season.

Patriots' David Andrews: Dealing with torn rotator cuff
Andrews (shoulder) said Tuesday that he sustained a torn right rotator cuff in the Patriots' Week 4 loss to the 49ers and will miss the remainder of the season, Mike Kadlick of CLNSMedia.com reports.
Andrews turned 32 years old back in July and wants to continue his playing career next season, assuming he makes a full recovery from surgery. Nick Leverett replaced Andrews as the starting center in Week 5 and had a rough afternoon in the Patriots' loss to Miami, allowing 10 pressures, the most by a center in at least the last 18 seasons.

Patriots' David Andrews: Shifts to IR
The Patriots placed Andrews (shoulder) on injured reserve Friday.
Head coach Jerod Mayo told reporters Wednesday that Andrews will undergo shoulder surgery and likely miss the remainder of the season, so this news comes as no surprise. By rule, the 32-year-old will be forced to miss the Patriots' next four contests, and Nick Leverett (ankle) is expected to serve as New England's top center until Andrews is able to return.
