Watts' move to injured reserve is simply procedural after the 2018 fourth-rounder sustained a season-ending ankle injury during Saturday's preseason win over the Buccaneers. He'll now shift his focus toward preparing for the 2023 season.

Watts suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Saturday's win over the Buccaneers, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
Head coach Frank Reich described Watts' injury as "pretty significant" and he is now done for the year. The safety will now shift his focus to being ready ahead of next year's training camp.

Colts' Armani Watts: Goes down with ankle injury
Watts was forced to leave Saturday's matchup with the Buccaneers early with an ankle injury, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Watts was carted off the field in the first quarter for what has now been outlined as an ankle injury. The 26-year-old can be considered questionable for Week 1 versus the Texans on Sept. 11.

Colts' Armani Watts: Signs with Indianapolis
Watts signed a contract with the Colts on Tuesday, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
Watts appeared in 16 regular season games in each of the last three seasons with Kansas City, but he mostly operated on special teams. The 2018 fourth-round pick figures to garner a similar role for the Colts during the 2022 campaign.

Watts was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
The safety tested positive for COVID-19 Tuesday, putting his availability for Sunday's game against the Steelers in considerable doubt. Assuming he's vaccinated, Watts would still have the ability to suit up this weekend if he's asymptomatic of the virus or able to turn in two consecutive negative tests before the contest. Watts has appeared in all 14 of Kansas City's games to date, totaling 19 tackles.
