We know now that Nico Collins (hamstring) is out for at least four games, and this is Schultz's time to shine. He's scored 7.4 PPR points or less in every game this season, but he does have 11 targets in his past two outings against the Jaguars and Bills. The targets will hopefully rise as C.J. Stroud needs help to replace Collins, and I like Schultz as a low-end starter in all leagues heading into Week 6 at New England. It helps that the Patriots have allowed three tight ends in the past three games to score at least 11.1 PPR points.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Week 6 Waiver Priority List

Nico Collins (hamstring) is considered week-to-week, which should hopefully allow Schultz to be more productive for the Texans and Fantasy managers. He's scored 7.4 PPR points or less in every game this season, but he does have 11 targets in his past two outings against the Jaguars and Bills. The targets will hopefully rise as C.J. Texans' Dalton Schultz: Season-high six targets in win
Rotowire
Schultz caught four of six targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Bills in Week 5.
For the second straight week, Schultz received a bump in targets with one of Houston's top three wideouts injured. After Nico Collins (hamstring) was removed from the game and Buffalo's defense made life difficult for quarterback C.J. Stroud in the second half, Schultz became a security blanket for the second-year quarterback. All six of the tight end's targets came during the third and fourth quarters, with four of them coming on third downs. Schultz received five looks last week when Tank Dell was inactive and has 16 targets over the last three games, compared to six over the first two games of the season.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: TEs to Sit
Rotowire
I thought Schultz would have played well in Week 4 against Jacksonville with Tank Dell (ribs) out, but Schultz managed just three catches for 34 yards on five targets. He's now scored 6.4 PPR points or less in four games in a row, and it's tough to trust him against the Bills with Dell expected to return. When all the Texans receivers are healthy, Schultz is only worth using in tight-end premium leagues.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Five targets in win
Rotowire
Schultz caught three of five targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 24-20 win over Jacksonville.
Schultz again dealt with an ankle injury during the practice week, but it hasn't prevented him from seeing significant action. In Week 3, he logged 96 percent of the offensive snaps, and the veteran tight end was on the field for 87 percent of plays Sunday. Schultz moved up to third on the target list with Tank Dell (chest) inactive for the game.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Puts in full practice
Rotowire
Schultz (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Schultz opened Week 4 prep Wednesday as a limited practice participant, but his ability to take every rep in Thursday's session clears up any lingering doubt about his availability for this Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Expect the tight end to once again take on ample playing time after he logged 96 percent of Houston's snaps on offense in the Week 3 loss to Minnesota. Schultz drew five targets against the Vikings, and he could see his role in the passing attack expand if either or both of Nico Collins (hamstring) and Tank Dell (chest) aren't cleared to play versus the Jaguars.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Plays nearly every snap
Rotowire
Schultz caught two of five targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Vikings.
Schultz, who had been hobbled by an ankle injury during the practice week, was on the field for 96 percent of the offensive snaps. A season-ending injury to Brevin Jordan (knee) cleared out the only real threat to Schultz's volume, and his five targets Sunday were a season high.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Takes every rep Thursday
Rotowire
Schultz (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Schultz was a limited participant Wednesday in the Texans' first Week 3 practice session, but his ability to take every rep a day later clears the way for the tight end to suit up Sunday in Minnesota. Through the first two weeks of the season, Schultz has produced a 5-37-0 receiving line on six targets while playing at least 70 percent of the offensive snaps in both contests. With top backup Brevin Jordan (knee) suffering a season-ending ACL tear in Week 2, Schultz could see a slight uptick in his snap count moving forward.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: TEs to Sit
Rotowire
It will be tough to trust Schultz when everyone is healthy for the Texans, and he's struggling right now as C.J. Stroud leans on Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell. In two games, Schultz only has five catches for 41 yards and no touchdowns on six targets. He's not worth starting in the majority of leagues.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Limited in practice Wednesday
Rotowire
Schultz (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday.
Schultz missed consecutive practices last week before logging a full session Friday to avoid taking an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Bears. In Houston's 19-13 win over Chicago, Schultz caught two of his three targets for 21 yards while logging a 71 percent snap share. With no reported setbacks in that contest, Schultz's listed limitations Wednesday may have simply been a case of load management ahead of this Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Logs two catches in win
Rotowire
Schultz caught two of three targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 19-13 win over Chicago in Week 2.
Schultz dealt with a minor ankle injury that forced him to miss two practices this week, but he was ready to go Sunday. The tight end has five catches on six targets for 37 yards through two games. Schultz had five more targets after two weeks in 2023, which suggests the addition of wide receiver Stefon Diggs is cutting into his opportunities.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Not practicing Thursday
Rotowire
Schultz (ankle) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Schultz, who didn't practice Wednesday, thus has one more opportunity to log on-field reps ahead of Sunday's contest against the Bears. In the event that he's limited or out this weekend, added opportunities would be available for fellow tight ends Brevin Jordan and Cade Stover.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Three targets in Week 1
Rotowire
Schultz caught all three of his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 29-27 win over the Colts in Week 1.
As expected, Schultz was the snap and target leader at tight end, ahead of Brevin Jordan. Even so, Schultz may be hard pressed to repeat the 88 targets he had in 2023. The target distribution Sunday heavily skewed toward Houston's wideouts, who were targeted 22 times compared to five for the tight ends.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Makes preseason debut
Rotowire
Schultz did not catch his lone target in Friday's 20-12 preseason win over Pittsburgh.
Schultz made his preseason debut and played 11 snaps in the first quarter. The Texans quickly extended him for three years during the offseason, after Schultz developed chemistry with then-rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. He'll be an important component to the team's passing attack, but Houston added a high-profile target in Stefon Diggs, which could cut into Schultz's opportunities.
The Texans and Schultz agreed to terms on a three-year, $36 million contract extension on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Schultz will stick around with C.J. Stroud for the foreseeable future on a new deal that includes $23.5 million in guarantees, per Rapoport. Had he not been re-signed Schultz would've arguably been the top tight end of this free agency cycle, and keeping the pass-catching corps that Stroud found success with as a rookie intact makes complete sense for Houston. Across 15 regular-season games in 2023, Schultz secured 59 of 88 targets for 635 yards and five scores.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Five catches in loss
Rotowire
Schultz recorded five receptions on seven targets for 43 yards in Saturday's 34-10 loss to the Ravens.
Schultz finished second on the team in targets and delivered a few big plays, most notably a 21-yard catch late in the first quarter to set up a field goal. Earlier in the same drive, he dropped a pass -- his second in as many games this postseason. Despite some inconsistency on a game-to-game basis, Schultz remains a steady contributor overall, as he has topped 55 receptions in four consecutive seasons while reaching 600 receiving yards in three of those four campaigns. He'll enter free agency this offseason after one year with the Texans, and he should have a significant role wherever he lands.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Limited to two targets
Rotowire
Schultz recorded one catch on two targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 45-14 win over the Browns.
Schultz had a limited role in the offense, as he matched his lowest target total in any game of the regular season. He had a drop early in the first quarter but redeemed himself with a long 37-yard touchdown reception just before halftime. The Texans held a three-score lead for much of the final two quarters, limiting passing volume for the entire team. He should have a chance to be more involved in Houston's divisional-round matchup.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Sleeper TEs
Rotowire
Schultz only had four catches for 34 yards on seven targets in Week 2 against the Colts, but he should do better in the rematch in Week 18. He's coming off a down game in Week 17 against Tennessee with only two catches for 19 yards on four targets, and he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 11. But the Colts have allowed two of the past four tight ends to score a touchdown with Tanner Hudson in Week 14 and Kyle Pitts in Week 16, and Schultz should be a go-to option for C.J. Stroud in this matchup.
