Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Could see more work as pass rusher

Lawrence might see an uptick in sacks in 2024 with Sam Williams (knee) lost for the season and Dorance Armstrong now with Washington.
Micah Parsons is still around for the Cowboys, but with the team's secondary cast of edge rushers thinned, Lawrence could see his responsibilities in that area increase under new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. Armstrong and Williams combined for 12.0 sacks in 2023, while Lawrence managed just 4.0, but rookie second-round pick Marshawn Kneeland and free-agent signing Carl Lawson, who will begin the season on the practice squad, aren't likely to replace that lost production on their own. The 32-year-old Lawrence has become more of a run-stuffer in recent years and hasn't topped 6.5 sacks since 2018, so even with increased opportunities, his IDP ceiling is likely limited.
