Patriots' Carl Davis: Back with New England
Davis agreed to a contract with the Patriots on Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Davis appeared in all 17 games for the Patriots last season and had 19 tackles (12 solo) and one sack, though he was a healthy inactive for the playoff loss at Buffalo. He'll compete for a spot in New England's defensive-line rotation during training camp.

Davis left the Patriots' Week 7 game against the Jets early and was questionable this week. Davis will look to help slow down the Chargers offense and build on his season totals of nine tackles and a sack.

Davis (knee) returned to Sunday's game against the Texans, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Davis exited with a knee injury in the first quarter and was deemed questionable to return. However, he is apparently healthy enough to retake the field and will rejoin the rotation along the Patriots' defensive line. Davis has yet to record a tackle.

Davis exited during the first quarter, though it's unclear how he suffered the injury. He's served a rotational along the Patriots' defensive line and had tallied six tackles through four games entering Sunday's contest.
