Bilal Powell: Retires as Jet
Powell signed a one-day contract Tuesday so he could officially retire as a Jet.
Powell was a fourth-round draft pick by the Jets in 2011 and spent his entire career in New York. He rushed for 3,675 yards and 15 touchdowns across 109 appearances. Powell last played in 2019, when he rushed 59 times for 229 yards while catching seven passes for 33 yards across 13 games played.

Jets' Bilal Powell: Closes out ninth season in NY
Powell rushed seven times for 27 yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game in Sunday's 13-6 win over the Bills.
There were questions about whether Powell would be able to play this season after he suffered what was believed to be a career-ending neck injury last season, but he returned for a ninth campaign with the Jets. The 31-year-old running back worked in a backup role, finishing with 59 carries for 229 yards and seven catches for 33 yards. It remains to be seen whether Powell opts to retire or returns for another season in a depth role.

Jets' Bilal Powell: Quiet in final 2019 home game
Powell (ankle) rushed once for three yards while catching one of two targets for another five in Sunday's 16-10 win over Pittsburgh.
Neither Powell nor Ty Montgomery broke double-digit scrimmage yards while Le'Veon Bell touched the ball 29 times. The lifelong Jet will close out his ninth season with the team against the Bills in Week 17.

Jets' Bilal Powell: Cleared for Sunday
Powell (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Powell's reps were capped in practice throughout the week, but his availability for game day ultimately wasn't impacted. He'll be in line to fill his usual role as the primary backup to top back Le'Veon Bell.

Jets' Bilal Powell: Questionable for Week 16
Powell (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers after logging limited practices this week.
Powell has a chance to return to the Jets' backfield mix following a one-game absence, but with starter Le'Veon Bell back in action, Powell's projected complementary role limits his fantasy utility.

Jets' Bilal Powell: Returns to limited practice
Powell (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday.
Powell was unable to practice in advance of Week 15 action, so his return to the field Wednesday is a positive sign with regard to his availability for Sunday's game against the Steelers. That said, after Le'Veon Bell rejoined the Jets lineup for last week's loss to the Ravens following a one-game absence, Powell once again profiles as a complementary option in the team's backfield.

Jets' Bilal Powell: Ruled out for TNF
Powell (ankle/illness) has been ruled out for Thursday's contest against the Ravens, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Powell missed a trio of practices this week, so it doesn't come as a surprise that he won't be available. With Ty Montgomery (foot/hip) also listed as questionable, Josh Adams could step into the No. 2 role in New York's backfield behind Le'Veon Bell, who is slated to return to action after missing the Week 14 win over the Dolphins with an illness.

Jets' Bilal Powell: Ankle injury may force DNP
Powell's ankle injury, and not his current bout with the flu, is the greatest threat to his availability for Thursday's contest at Baltimore, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Powell will miss his second practice in as many days Tuesday, per Connor Hughes of The Athletic. With just one session remaining this week to prove his health, Powell is trending in the wrong direction for an appearance Thursday. Elsewhere in the Jets' backfield, Le'Veon Bell (illness) was listed as a full participant on Monday's injury report, so Powell was poised to take a step back before his health became compromised.

Jets' Bilal Powell: Dealing with ankle issue, illness
If the Jets had practiced Monday, Powell (ankle/illness) would not have participated, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Meanwhile, fellow running back Le'Veon Bell (illness) is said to be pretty close to 100 percent and has a solid chance to play Thursday night against the Ravens. In that scenario, Powell's projected Week 15 workload would take a hit, especially if he heads into Baltimore banged up and/or under the weather.
