Hawks' Jarkel Joiner: Inks Exhibit 10 deal
The Hawks signed Joiner to an Exhibit 10 deal Tuesday, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Joiner is expected to report to Atlanta's G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks. He's yet to appear in a regular-season NBA game.

Hawks' Clint Capela: Near double-double vs. 76ers
Capela tallied 10 points (5-8 FG), nine rebounds, three assists and one block over 21 minutes during Monday's 104-89 preseason loss to the 76ers.
Capela has been one rebound shy of registering a double-double in each of his two preseason outings. The 2014 first-round pick should hoard the boards during the 2024-25 regular season as he serves as the Hawks' defensive anchor. During the 2023-24 campaign, Capela averaged 11.5 points on 57.1 percent shooting, 10.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.5 blocks over 25.8 minutes per game across 73 regular-season contests.

Hawks' Kobe Bufkin: Struggles off bench Monday
Bufkin logged five points (2-13 FG, 0-5 3pt, 1-1 FT), five assists, two rebounds and one steal over 21 minutes in Monday's 104-89 preseason loss to Philadelphia.
Bufkin and fellow reserve Bogdan Bogdanovic both struggled from the field Monday, and the duo combined for 19 points on 4-for-24 shooting, including 2-for-13 from beyond the arc. Bufkin, who Atlanta selected in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft, is expected to serve as the backup point guard to Trae Young during the 2024-25 regular season. However, Bufkin needs to be more efficient from the field to keep a steady spot in the Hawks' rotation.

Hawks' Trae Young: Turnover problems vs. 76ers
Young finished Monday's 104-89 preseason loss to the 76ers with 10 points (4-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt), nine assists, three rebounds and two steals over 27 minutes.
Young dished a team-high nine assists during Monday's loss, but he struggled from the field and gave away a game-high nine turnovers. Young will be the Hawks' primary ball handler this season after Dejounte Murray was traded to the Pelicans in late June, so there will be some games where the former is leading Atlanta in both assists and turnovers as he gets Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher and his other teammates involved on offense. Young is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2023-24 campaign, during which he missed 23 regular-season games after the All-Star break due to a torn tendon in his left fifth finger.

Hawks' Zaccharie Risacher: Adds 14 bench points
Risacher tallied 14 points (5-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one steal in 23 minutes during Monday's 104-89 preseason loss to the 76ers.
Risacher came off the bench again Monday, but he finished the night with a team-high 14 points and fell just two rebounds shy of a double-double. The 2024 No. 1 overall pick continues to impress in the preseason, as he's scored 32 total points in his first two appearances while also showing significant upside on the glass.

Hawks' Bogdan Bogdanovic: Struggles vs. 76ers
Bogdanovic (rest) finished with six points (2-11 FG, 2-8 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and one block in 19 minutes off the bench in Monday's 104-89 preseason loss to Philadelphia.
Bogdanovic was held out of Tuesday's exhibition for rest purposes, and he failed to get his shot working from deep during Monday's clash. However, he'll have a few more opportunities to shake off the rust Wednesday in Miami and Thursday in Oklahoma City before the regular season begins Oct. 23.

Hawks' Onyeka Okongwu: Won't see floor Monday
Okongwu (toe) has officially been ruled out of Monday's preseason game against the 76ers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
This does not come as a surprise as coach Quin Snyder said Monday there was a "good chance" Okongwu wouldn't suit up. The big man is working his way back from a non-surgical procedure on his left big toe that he underwent in April. The club is taking it slow with Okongwu's recovery, though there is optimism that he returns to game action during the preseason -- with his next opportunity coming Wednesday against the Heat.

Hawks' Dominick Barlow: Unavailable Monday
Barlow won't play in Monday's preseason game against the 76ers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
The team failed to disclose the reason behind Barlow sitting Monday, so he may simply be receiving a night to rest. His next chance to suit up will arrive Wednesday in Miami.

Hawks' Seth Lundy: Dealing with ankle sprain
Coach Quin Snyder said Monday that Lundy is dealing with a sprained ankle, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
It's unclear if Lundy's current injury is related to the left ankle surgery he had during the offseason. His status for the rest of the preseason is in jeopardy.

Hawks' Onyeka Okongwu: Unlikely to play Monday
Coach Quin Snyder said there's a "good chance" Okongwu (toe) doesn't play in Monday's preseason game against the 76ers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Okongwu is still working his way back from a non-surgical procedure he underwent in April to deal with inflammation in his left big toe. While he's unlikely to play Monday, Snyder added that he's hopeful Okongwu suits up before the preseason ends. He'll have two more chances to do so -- Wednesday in Miami and Thursday in Oklahoma City.

Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Leads Atlanta in scoring
Johnson notched 19 points (8-12 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds and three steals across 22 minutes in Tuesday's 131-130 preseason win over the Pacers.
Johnson led the Hawks in scoring during this tight win. If this preseason contest is any indication for the regular season, the youngster might be ready for another jump after a career year in 2023-24. Johnson averaged 16.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.8 blocks and 1.3 three-pointers per game in 56 regular-season appearances with the Hawks before a Grade 2 lateral ankle sprain ended his season prematurely. However, now healthy, he figures to play a prominent role on offense for Atlanta in 2024-25, probably as the team's second-best offensive option behind Trae Young.

Hawks' Dyson Daniels: Productive in spot start
Daniels finished with 14 points (5-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), a rebound, three assists and two steals across 22 minutes in Tuesday's 131-130 preseason win over the Pacers.
Daniels got the start alongside Trae Young in the backcourt since Bogdan Bogdanovic was rested. The former Pelicans guard did a solid job on both ends of the court. That said, Daniels is expected to open the regular season with a bench role, which should limit his upside considerably regardless of how he looks in preseason.

Hawks' Trae Young: Decent output in preseason opener
Young notched 17 points (5-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-7 FT) and six assists across 21 minutes in Tuesday's 131-130 preseason win over the Pacers.
Young finished as Atlanta's third-highest scorer in this game, and that was probably a positive sign for the franchise's long-term outlook since the only two players who ended with more points were Zaccharie Risacher and Jalen Johnson. Young will aim to continue his ramp-up in the team's final three preseason contests before the regular-season opener against the Nets on Oct. 23.

Hawks' Zaccharie Risacher: Impresses in preseason debut
Risacher posted 18 points (7-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 131-130 preseason win over the Pacers.
Risacher was Atlanta's second-leading scorer Tuesday behind Jalen Johnson despite coming off the bench. At 6-foot-9, Risacher showed off his three-point prowess, which was a major factor in him being selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Hawks' Seth Lundy: Hits game-winner
Lundy (ankle) posted three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt) in three minutes during Tuesday's 131-130 preseason win over the Pacers.
Lundy was limited to begin training camp while recovering from left ankle surgery but appears to have made a full recovery. While Lundy saw only limited action Tuesday, his sole basket gave the Hawks the lead with less than a second remaining.

Hawks' De'Andre Hunter: Starting in preseason opener
Hunter is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's preseason game versus the Pacers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Hunter started in 37 of his 57 regular-season appearances for Atlanta last season. While Zaccharie Risacher, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, is expected to be the team's starting small forward once the regular season rolls around, Hunter will get the first starting nod to begin the preseason.

Hawks' Dyson Daniels: Gets starting nod
Daniels is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's preseason opener against the Pacers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Daniels is set to make his Hawks debut Tuesday after spending the first two years of his career in New Orleans. While Daniels is expected to come off the bench this season, he will start in place of Bogdan Bogdanovic (rest) against Indiana.

Hawks' Zaccharie Risacher: Slides to bench Tuesday
Risacher will come off the bench during Tuesday's preseason opener against the Pacers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
De'Andre Hunter will get the starting nod with Risacher coming off the bench in his first NBA preseason game. The rookie has been a full participant in training camp after injuring his quadricep during Summer League, and his play in the preseason will likely decide if he earns the starting role right out of the gate.

Hawks' Bogdan Bogdanovic: Out for Tuesday
Bogdanovic (rest) has been ruled out of Tuesday's preseason opener against the Pacers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Bogdanovic will get an extra day of rest Tuesday, with Dyson Daniels getting the start at shooting guard. Bogdanovic is returning from a busy offseason, during which he helped Serbia win a bronze medal in the Olympic Games. The 32-year-old's absence will allow the Hawks to take an extended look at Daniels in the starting lineup, as well as at Vit Krejci and Garrison Mathews off the bench.
