  • Killian Hayes: Reaches free agency

Hayes became a free agent Sunday after his 10-day contract with the Nets expired, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Look for the Nets to either re-sign Hayes to a second 10-day deal or bring aboard another player to fill the vacant roster spot before their next game Tuesday in San Antonio. After signing with Brooklyn on Feb. 20, Hayes appeared in each of the Nets' ensuing six games, making five starts while averaging 9.0 points (on 41.9 percent shooting from the field), 5.2 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.3 three-pointers, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks in 27.2 minutes per contest.

  • Nets' Killian Hayes: Fills box score Friday

Hayes logged 16 points (5-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal over 30 minutes during Friday's 121-102 loss to Portland. Hayes filled the box score Friday, matching the team high in scoring as well. The 23-year-old floor general has now started four games in a row, during which he's averaged 11.3 points, 6.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals, 0.8 blocks and 2.0 three-pointers in 28.9 minutes while shooting 50.0 percent from deep. Hayes should continue carrying a short-term boost in fantasy value while D'Angelo Russell (ankle) remains on the shelf, but his streaming appeal could wear off once the latter is able to return.

  • Nets' Killian Hayes: Scores season-high 19 points

Hayes logged 19 points (7-13 FG, 5-10 3Pt), two rebounds and seven assists in 34 minutes during Wednesday's 129-121 loss to the Thunder. Hayes made his third straight start for the Nets and posted another solid line, including a season-high mark in points, as he ended just three assists shy of a double-double. It's only been three starts, but Hayes has left some good sensations with averages of 9.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 0.7 steals per game in those three starts.

  • Nets' Killian Hayes: Hands out eight assists

Hayes ended Monday's 107-99 loss to the Wizards with seven points (2-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, eight assists, one block and two steals in 25 minutes. D'Angelo Russell (ankle) has missed the past two games for Brooklyn and is expected to be re-evaluated prior to Wednesday's game against the Thunder. Hayes now has three games under his belt with Brooklyn, and he's off to a slow start, hitting 31.3 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from beyond the arc. He's been an effective playmaker, however, averaging 5.7 assists in 24.0 minutes.

  • Nets' Killian Hayes: Starting Saturday vs. Philly

Hayes is in the Nets' starting lineup against the 76ers on Saturday, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports. Hayes signed a 10-day contract with the Nets on Wednesday and made his team debut against the Cavaliers on Thursday, during which he logged five points, three assists, one rebound and one block over 21 minutes. He'll slide into the starting lineup Saturday due to D'Angelo Russell being out with an ankle injury while Jalen Wilson and Tyrese Martin remain on the bench.

  • Nets' Killian Hayes: Signs 10-day deal with Brooklyn

Hayes and the Nets agreed to a 10-day contract Wednesday, ESPN's Shams Charania reports. The Nets will be waiving Bojan Bogdanovic (knee) to clear a roster spot. Hayes attended training camp with the Nets and has been a standout player for the Long Island Nets in the G League, averaging 21.0 points and 8.3 assists. With the Nets undergoing a rebuild, Hayes will likely get a chance to prove himself with the franchise.

The Nets waived Hayes (hip) on Saturday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Hayes was unable to suit up this preseason while rehabbing a hip injury before getting waived. He is now set to join the Long Island Nets of the G League for the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Nets' Killian Hayes: Not expected to play Friday

Hayes (hip) isn't expected to play in Friday's preseason finale against the Raptors, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. Hayes will ultimately miss the entire preseason schedule due to a hip issue. He's signed to an Exhibit 10 deal, so the prolonged absence isn't helping his case for landing an Opening Night roster spot.

  • Nets' Killian Hayes: Headed to Brooklyn

The Nets signed Hayes to a one-year contract Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Hayes averaged 6.9 points, 4.9 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 24.0 minutes across 42 regular-season appearances, including 31 starts, for the Pistons in 2023-24. However, the No. 7 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft struggled with his efficiency, posting 41.3/29.7/66.0 shooting splits. Hayes will now have the opportunity to compete for a depth role in Brooklyn's backcourt.

  • Killian Hayes: Let go by Detroit

The Pistons are waiving Hayes on Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. With several trade deadline additions made by Detroit, Hayes is being waived to create space on the roster. While the 2021 No. 7 overall pick has started in 31 of his 42 appearances this season, he has struggled mightily. Hayes averaged 6.9 points, 4.9 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 24.0 minutes per game while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 29.7 percent from three-point range. Still just 22 years old, Hayes should still have some appeal in free agency as a developmental point guard.

  • Pistons' Killian Hayes: Steps into starting role

Hayes will start Wednesday at Sacramento, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Hayes will take the place of Cade Cunningham (knee) in the starting lineup for the first leg of a back-to-back set. While he's started 30 games this season with Detroit, Hayes had received DNP-CDs in three straight games, so he may not be locked into a massive workload despite his starting status.

  • Pistons' Killian Hayes: Falls out of rotation

Hayes (coach's decision) went unused off the bench in Wednesday's 128-121 loss to the Cavaliers. After making a spot start in place of Cade Cunningham (knee) for the second leg of a back-to-back set in Sunday's 120-104 win over the Thunder, Hayes dropped out of the rotation entirely while Cunningham made his return to the lineup Wednesday. Cunningham's recent return as well as Monte Morris' return from a long-term absence due to a quadricep strain has brought the Detroit backcourt back to full strength, leaving no room for Hayes to pick up minutes. Considering that Hayes is in the final year of his contract and has seemingly fallen out of favor in Detroit, the 2020 lottery pick could be a candidate to get moved elsewhere ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline.

  • Pistons' Killian Hayes: Heads back to bench

Hayes isn't in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Cavaliers, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. • Pistons' Killian Hayes: Officially starting Sunday

Hayes will move into the starting lineup with Cade Cunningham (knee) ruled out, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Hayes returns to the starting lineup for the ninth time in Detroit's past 10 games, although he has averaged just 4.4 points and 7.4 assists in 25.4 minutes over that span. Cade Cunningham was a game-time scratch due to knee management, but no setback was reported.

  • Pistons' Killian Hayes: Struggles against Bucks

Hayes amassed two points (1-2 FG), one rebound, five assists, one block and one steal across 16 minutes during Monday's 122-113 loss to the Bucks. Hayes has been unable to make the most of his opportunities while Cade Cunningham (knee) has been sidelined. Cunningham is nearing a return, and the same is true of Monte Morris (quadriceps). Given Hayes' struggles, his minutes could be in jeopardy when the Pistons get a little healthier.
