Top Deni Avdija News

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Won't play Tuesday

Avdija (back) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Warriors.

Avdija departed Sunday's matchup against the Knicks early after picking up a back injury, and it'll sideline him at least one additional game. Jrue Holiday will presumably be on a minutes restriction again Tuesday, so it'll likely be up to Caleb Love to step up in the backcourt.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Leaves early with back injury

Avdija didn't return to Sunday's 123-114 loss to the Knicks after exiting with 1:53 remaining in the fourth quarter due to an apparent back injury. He finished with 25 points (8-17 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 8-10 FT), five rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block in 38 minutes.

Avdija's back injury didn't look to be a major concern, but the 25-year-old forward's status will now be worth monitoring ahead of Tuesday's game against the Warriors. He's reached the 20-point mark in each of the Trail Blazers' first six outings of January, averaging 30.3 points to go along with 7.0 assists, 6.7 rebounds, 2.5 three-pointers and 1.2 steals in 36.5 minutes per contest.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Exits to locker room

Avdija exited to the locker room in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Knicks due to an apparent back issue, Danny Marang of 1080 The Fan Portland reports.

Avdija appeared to tweak his back and limped immediately to the locker room in the final minutes of the game. He should be considered highly questionable to return with the game nearing its end.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Goes for 41 points in narrow win

Avdija generated 41 points (13-24 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 13-15 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one steal across 39 minutes of Wednesday's 103-102 win over the Rockets.

Avdija fell two points shy of tying his career high in points, and he did so without catching fire from three-point range. When he scored 43 points in February of 2024, he knocked down six threes. The 24-year-old has quietly become one of the NBA's budding stars, averaging 26.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game this season.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Sniffs triple-double in blowout

Avdija finished with 33 points (10-19 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 9-10 FT), eight rebounds and nine assists in 29 minutes during Monday's 137-117 victory over the Jazz.

Avdija would have been a cinch to log his second consecutive triple-double, but he sat out the entire fourth quarter with the game well in hand. Avdija earned Western Conference player of the week honors last week, and few players have been as productive as Avdija over the past month. His scintillating totals have placed Portland in the midst of a three-game winning streak, and they've moved past the Grizzlies to ninth place thanks to a 6-4 streak over the past 10 games.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Posts triple-double vs. SAS

    Avdija finished Saturday's 115-110 win over the Spurs with 29 points (9-23 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 8-11 FT), 11 rebounds, 10 assists and a block across 39 minutes.

Avdija was one of three Trail Blazers who scored at least 20 points in this game, with Donovan Clingan and Toumani Camara being the others. The star forward carried the Blazers offensively and posted his third triple-double of the campaign. It was also his ninth game with at least 10 assists, and his sixth with 10 or more boards.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Double-doubles in victory

Avdija notched 34 points (10-19 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 11-14 FT), 11 assists, seven rebounds, one steal and one block across 38 minutes in Friday's 122-109 win over the Pelicans.

After shooting just 5-for-14 from the field in Wednesday's blowout loss to the Thunder, Avdija bounced back with his ninth 30-plus-point performance on the campaign. The star forward also led the Trail Blazers in assists en route to his 11th game with a double-double or better. The 2020 first-rounder continues to handle increased playmaking duties due to Jrue Holiday (calf) and Scoot Henderson (hamstring) being on the shelf. Avdija has dished out double-digit dimes in three of his last five appearances, averaging 26.2 points, 9.6 assists, 7.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest during that stretch.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Productive against OKC

Avdija notched 17 points (5-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), seven rebounds, seven assists, one block and two steals in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 124-95 loss to Oklahoma City.

The 24-year-old forward continues to enjoy a breakout campaign. Avdija scored at least 16 points and produced at least 10 combined boards and dimes in all 14 of Portland's December fixtures, averaging 24.6 points, 8.5 assists, 7.4 rebounds, 1.9 threes and 1.2 steals on the month.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Rebound shy of triple-double

Avdija supplied 27 points (9-18 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 8-12 FT), nine rebounds, 11 assists and two steals over 39 minutes during Monday's 125-122 win over the Mavericks.

Avdija's breakout season has a full head of steam going into 2026. This game marked a second straight double-double for Avdija, who narrowly missed another triple-double. Monday was Avdija's third game in a row playing a hefty 39 minutes. Now in his sixth season, Avdija is averaging 25.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists. He can threaten defenses as a scorer and passer, allowing Avdija to simply make the right reads all game. There are no signs of Avdija falling off at this rate.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Double-double vs. Boston

Avdija registered 24 points (8-16 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 5-10 FT), 10 assists, seven rebounds, two blocks and one steal over 39 minutes during the Trail Blazers' 114-108 win over the Celtics on Sunday.

Avdija wasn't the most efficient from beyond the arc or the charity stripe, but he still filled up the box score and led the Trail Blazers in assists en route to his ninth double-double of the season. He finished as the Trail Blazers' second-leading scorer behind Shaedon Sharpe (26 points), and the former has scored at least 24 points in six of his last seven outings. Across 12 games since Dec. 2, Avdija has averaged 25.1 points, 8.4 assists, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 threes and 1.0 steals over 36.9 minutes per game.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Scores team-high 25 points

Avdija contributed 25 points (10-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, eight assists and two steals over 37 minutes during Tuesday's 110-106 loss to the Magic.

The Trail Blazers came up short for a second consecutive game despite two inspired performances from Avdija. He upped his offensive production from his 18/8/9 line against Detroit on Monday night, and he's doing everything possible to close the gap during these narrow losses. Avdija posted four points, two assists, a steal and a rebound over the final seven minutes to decrease Orlando's lead, but it was another crushing result for a Portland team struggling to stay afloat in the Western Conference.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Comes close to triple-double

Avdija accumulated 18 points (4-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 9-15 FT), eight rebounds, nine assists and one block in 39 minutes during Monday's 110-102 loss to the Pistons.

Avdija finished just two rebounds and an assist shy of a triple-double, but he had the distinction of spurring a late rally in the fourth quarter. He logged seven points, three rebounds, three assists and a block as the squad erased a 21-point deficit. Although the team has gone 4-5 in December, the month has gone quite well for Avdija, who's averaged 24.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 1.0 steals over nine games.

Avdija came into Saturday's game with a fourth-round valuation in nine-category formats with averages of 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.6 blocks and 2.4 three-pointers in his previous 27 regular-season games. This was his eighth game of the campaign with at least 30 points, and following Saturday's win, the team improved to 12-16 on the season.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Pours in 35 for OT win

Avdija chipped in 35 points (12-19 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 10-12 FT), five rebounds, five assists and one steal across 42 minutes during Thursday's 134-133 overtime victory over Sacramento.

Avdija had another excellent outing against the Kings, registering his eighth 30-point game of the season. He did so while shooting 12-for-19 from the floor and converting ten made free throws, the final two coming in overtime with one second remaining to give his team the win. In December, Avdija is averaging 9.7 free-throw attempts per game, which trails only Luka Doncic (10.4). Avdija's game is blossoming rapidly. Over his last 10 outings, he hasn't finished a game with fewer than four rebounds, five assists or 16 points.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Strikes for 26 in win over Warriors

Avdija produced 26 points (6-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 12-13 FT), seven rebounds, eight assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Sunday's 136-131 win over Golden State.

The 24-year-old forward continues to build on his impressive second half of 2024-25. Avdija has scored in double digits in every game this season and has dropped at least 16 points in nine straight contests, averaging 26.2 points, 8.3 boards, 8.0 assists, 2.4 threes and 1.5 combined steals and blocks during that latter stretch.

  • Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Struggles with shot

Avdija had 16 points (5-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-7 FT), seven rebounds, six assists, two blocks and one steal in 32 minutes during Thursday's 143-120 loss to the Pelicans.

The Trail Blazers suffered a 23-point loss to the Pelicans, and while Avdija posted a strong stat line, he struggled to be efficient. He made just 33.3 percent of his shots and 20 percent of his three-pointers. The star forward still found a way to deliver value to his fantasy managers by adding at least two tallies in three other categories, but he needs to be more efficient as a scorer. Avdija has failed to reach the 20-point mark in two straight games after doing so in eight of his previous nine outings dating back to Nov. 19.

Avdija erupted for an efficient 35 points, leading all players in points while attempting 14-plus free throws for the fifth straight game. The 24-year-old forward also led the Trail Blazers in assists and has dished out at least seven in each of his last five games. During that span, he has averaged 31.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 9.2 assists across 37.6 minutes per contest.

Avdija is putting up All-Star-caliber numbers this season, hitting career highs in points (25.8), assists (6.2) and free-throw attempts (9.6), and he's shooting a sterling 47.4 percent from the floor and 80.7 percent at the line. Avdija has been a top-60 fantasy stud through the first 22 games of the season and is showing no signs of slowing down.
