  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Blocks nine shots in loss

Wembanyama chipped in 24 points (9-22 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists, nine blocks and three steals across 34 minutes during Monday's 113-104 loss to the Clippers. Wembanyama's jumpshot was woefully off, but he still managed a relatively efficient scoring night through dunks and easy lay-ins around the basket. The bigger story was his nine blocks. Wembanyama looked every bit like a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, and he's up to 3.9 blocks per game. Once his jumper starts to fall, he seems primed to exceed the 21.4 points per game he averaged last year. On a positive note offensively, he's shooting 93.1 percent from the charity stripe.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Matches career high with 20 rebounds

Wembanyama logged 14 points (6-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 20 rebounds, five assists and four blocks over 35 minutes during Monday's 106-101 loss to the Rockets. Wembanyama couldn't find his shot from distance, but he had an efficient offensive game on the interior and contributed five assists. The bigger story was his presence on the glass -- he matched his career high with 20 rebounds -- not to mention a season-high four blocks. The sophomore phenom has yet to put it all together into one massive performance, but that will come sooner than later. He's already posted season highs of 29 points, 20 rebounds, five assists and four blocks in three games.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Poor shooting display Thursday

Wembanyama ended with 17 points (5-18 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 6-6 FT), nine rebounds, one assist and one block across 28 minutes during Thursday's 120-109 loss to Dallas. Wembanyama finished just one rebound away from opening the 2024-25 season with a double-double, but this wasn't his best performance, as he looked rusty on offense and a step slow on defense at times. The fact that Wembanyama barely played in the preseason was noticeable in the regular-season opener, although matching up with the reigning Western Conference champions was far from ideal to open the campaign. The star big man should figure things out rather quickly, so fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned after just one subpar game by Wembanyama's standards.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Good to go for Thursday

Wembanyama (rest) isn't listed on the injury report for Thursday's regular-season opener against the Mavericks. As expected, Wembanyama is cleared to suit up for the regular-season opener after resting during the Spurs' preseason finale. As a rookie, Wembanyama averaged 3.6 blocks and 1.8 three-pointers per game across 71 regular-season appearances.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Stuffs stat sheet in 23 minutes

Wembanyama notched 11 points (4-15 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 3-5 FT), nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks across 23 minutes in Wednesday's 107-97 preseason win over the Magic. Wembanyama had a woeful shooting performance, but that's to be expected since this was his first taste of game action since the Olympics. However, even considering his shooting woes, he still delivered an impressive stat line. Wembanyama will be the Spurs' go-to player on both ends of the court this season after running away with the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year award in the previous campaign.

Coach Gregg Popovich said Monday that he is, "sure" that Wembanyama will play in Wednesday's preseason matchup against the Magic, Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio reports. Wembanyama sat out the Spurs' preseason opener against the Thunder; however, Popovich expects him to make his preseason debut Wednesday, according to Garcia. The 20-year-old is coming off a phenomenal rookie season, during which he averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals across 29.7 minutes per game in 71 regular-season outings.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Overcomes poor shooting in victory

Wembanyama posted 11 points (4-17 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks across 32 minutes during Thursday's 73-69 semifinal victory over Germany. Wembanyama unsurprisingly made several highlight plays, but he struggled from beyond the arc despite many of his looks being wide open. However, he was able to contribute as a passer, rebounder and defensive presence. It was enough, and France now goes to the gold medal game.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Double-doubles in Olympic loss

Wembanyama delivered 14 points (5-11 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 12 rebounds, an assist, two steals and a block in Friday's 85-71 loss to Germany. This was Wembanyama's second consecutive double-double in the Olympics, and he continues to be an absolute threat on both ends of the court for Les Bleus. This was also his third straight game with multiple steals. While the 14-point output was his lowest of the competition, Wembanyama does enough in other categories to remain an excellent fantasy option in all formats.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Leads France to Olympic win

Wembanyama posted 18 points (6-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals across 31 minutes in France's 94-90 overtime win over Japan in the Paris Olympics on Tuesday. Wembanyama proved his role as the clear No. 1 option for France, scoring a team-high 18 points, with eight of those points coming in overtime. The 20-year-old continued his elite two-way play Tuesday, and through two group-phase games, he has already racked up six steals and five blocks. Wembanyama has also accumulated 37 points and 20 rebounds across that two-game span, and his efficiency from deep against Japan was a welcome sight after he went 1-for-4 against Brazil on Saturday. The young star will hope to bring France to the podium, and the squad has the talent to do so with Rudy Gobert, Nicolas Batum and Evan Fournier alongside Wembanyama.

Wembanyama's Olympic debut did not disappoint as he displayed his elite two-way abilities in Saturday's win. The 20-year-old will undoubtedly be a focal point for France, and he will hope to take the squad on a successful Olympic run alongside Rudy Gobert and Nicolas Batum. Wembanyama is coming off a stellar rookie season, during which he averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals across 29.7 minutes.

Wembanyama missed France's previous exhibition versus Germany on July 8 but returned to action a few days later. While Nikola Jokic got the better of Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert in the tune-up game, France's fearsome frontcourt is expected to wreak havoc at the Paris Olympics in late July.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Out for regular-season finale

Wembanyama won't play in Sunday's game versus the Pistons due to right ankle injury management. Wembanyama will be held out of San Antonio's regular-season finale due to a left ankle injury that he has been battling all season. The rookie phenom is practically a guarantee to win Rookie of the Year after a historic campaign. Wembanyama will end 2023-24 averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, a league-best 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals in 29.7 minutes across 71 appearances.

Wembanyama's stellar performance against the defending champions helped San Antonio erase a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit for just the team's 21st win of the season. The rookie phenom tied his season high with five threes made Friday. Wembanyama has proven to be a dominant force already in his career, recording 43 double-doubles in 71 appearances in 2023-24.

The double-double was his 42nd of the season, tying the rookie for eighth in the league with Bam Adebayo, Jalen Duren and Tyrese Haliburton. Wembanyama was able to post a high scoring total despite being smothered by Draymond Green for most of the contest. Green did manage to curb the rookie's usual voluminous rebound numbers, but the generational talent is still one of the best producers in the league and the heavy favorite for Rookie of the Year.

Wembanyama finished with 19 points (7-15 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-7 FT), eight rebounds, six assists and five blocks over 30 minutes during Wednesday's 118-111 win over the Jazz. Wembanyama returned to action Wednesday after missing San Antonio's previous contest with an ankle injury. However, turnovers have been an issue for Wembanyama, as he is averaging 4.5 per contest over his last 10 appearances.
