  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Officially out Wednesday

Simmons (illness) will not play Wednesday against the Suns.

No surprise here, as Simmons carried a doubtful tag prior to this update. The Nets will be extremely shorthanded Wednesday, as D'Angelo Russell (rest) and Cameron Johnson (ankle) are sidelined as well.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Doubtful for Wednesday

Simmons (illness) is doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Suns, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.

Simmons appears likely to miss both games of this back-to-back set after sitting out against the Knicks on Tuesday. D'Angelo Russell is resting and Cameron Johnson (ankle) is doubtful, so the Nets are going to be extremely shorthanded. As a result, the Nets have recalled Dariq Whitehead from the G League for additional depth.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Ruled out Tuesday

Simmons (illness) will not play Tuesday against the Knicks.

Simmons was downgraded from probable to questionable Tuesday morning, before the Nets ultimately ruled him out. He doesn't play in both games of back-to-back sets, but because he's under the weather, he's not a lock to suit up Wednesday against the Suns.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Downgraded to questionable

The Nets downgraded Simmons (illness) from probable to questionable for Tuesday's game against the Knicks.

Brooklyn is also listing fellow point guard D'Angelo Russell as questionable for Tuesday's contest due to left hamstring tightness injury management. The Nets will play the second leg of a back-to-back set Wednesday against the Suns, and the team may be keen on having at least one of Simmons or Russell available for that game. Even if Simmons ultimately gets the green light to play ahead of Tuesday's 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff, he would likely then sit out Wednesday's contest.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Probable with illness

Simmons (illness) is probable for Tuesday's game against the Knicks, Sharif Phillips-Keaton of USA Today reports.

After being a late scratch ahead of Sunday's loss to the Thunder, Simmons is expected to play Tuesday. That said, the 28-year-old is likely to sit out against the Suns on Wednesday, as he's yet to appear in both ends of back-to-backs for the Nets in 2024-25. If Simmons doesn't play then, role players like Tyrese Martin, Jalen Wilson and Keon Johnson would be in line for more playing time.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Late scratch Sunday

Simmons is out for Sunday's game against the Thunder due to an illness.

Simmons was expected to start, but a non-COVID illness has ruled him out of this contest. This means D'Angelo Russell will move into a starting role. Simmons will aim to recover to be available for Tuesday's matchup against the Knicks.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Available for Friday

Simmons (rest) is available for Friday's game against the Lakers, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.

Simmons hasn't played in both halves of a back-to-back set all season, and he sat out Wednesday's game against the Clippers after playing against the Trail Blazers on Tuesday. In four January appearances, Simmons has averaged 7.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks in 26.0 minutes.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Out for second leg of back-to-back

Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez said after Tuesday's 132-114 win over the Trail Blazers that Simmons is slated to sit out Wednesday's game against the Clippers for lower back injury management, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. "So with Ben, we have a plan. Great to see that he played above 30 minutes [in Sunday's loss to the Jazz]," Fernandez said. "He feels good...But again, we want to be cautious and obviously still follow our protocol with him not playing back-to-backs."

Simmons hasn't played in both halves of a back-to-back set all season, and that trend doesn't appear likely to change anytime soon. In addition to his ongoing lower back management, Simmons was also listed as questionable for Tuesday's game with left knee soreness, but he was cleared to start and finished with 11 assists -- one off matching a season-high total -- to go with five points (2-6 FG, 1-2 FT) and nine rebounds in 26 minutes. He matched a season high with 32 minutes Sunday against the Jazz, but his minutes could stick in the mid-20s moving forward now that the Nets are beginning to get healthier. D'Angelo Russell (shin) and Cameron Johnson (ankle) both returned from multi-game absences Tuesday, and Cam Thomas (hamstring) could be back in action by the end of the month.

Simmons (knee/back) will be available to play Tuesday against the Trail Blazers, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

Simmons had initially been listed as questionable heading into the day, but the Nets appear prepared to let him play in the front end of the back-to-back set. Expect him to sit out Wednesday's game against the Clippers for maintenance purposes, however.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Iffy for Tuesday

Simmons (knee/back) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Trail Blazers, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

Simmons doesn't participate in both ends of back-to-backs for the Nets, leaving his status in question for Tuesday. With most of Brooklyn's starters on the injury report, Tyrese Martin, Ziaire Williams and Jalen Wilson are some candidates for increased run against Portland if Simmons sits out.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Posts 10 points in return

Simmons (back) notched 10 points (5-7 FG), seven assists, four rebounds and one steal across 22 minutes in Friday's 124-105 loss to the Nuggets.

Simmons made his return to action after a four-game absence due to left calf soreness and lower back injury management. He took back a spot in the starting five and produced well during his time on the court, but Simmons could be at risk of moving to the bench once D'Angelo Russell (shin) makes his return, perhaps as soon as the Nets' next game Sunday in Utah.

Simmons (back/calf) has been cleared to play Friday against the Nuggets, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

Simmons will return to the floor Friday when the Nets take on the Nuggets. The veteran has missed the last four games and will be a welcome addition to the lineup for Brooklyn despite averaging a career-low 5.9 points and 5.2 rebounds with 6.9 assists per game.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Officially out Wednesday

Simmons (back/calf) will not play Wednesday against Detroit, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.

Simmons will now miss a fourth consecutive game due to injury and 11th overall this season. With D'Angelo Russell (lower leg) and Cam Thomas (hamstring) also out, the Nets appear to be thin at the guard position, likely having to heavily rely on Reece Beekman, Keon Johnson and Ziaire Williams until one of the three return. The next opportunity for Simmons to suit up will be Friday against Denver.

  • Nets' Ben Simmons: Downgraded to doubtful

Simmons (back/calf) has been downgraded to doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Pistons, C.J. Holmes of the New York Daily News reports.

Simmons had missed the Nets' previous three games with left calf soreness and lower back injury management, but only the latter issue is cited on the team's latest injury report. Assuming Simmons ends up being ruled out Wednesday, the Nets could be shorthanded, as eight other players are already ruled out with injuries and another (center Day'Ron Sharpe) is listed as questionable with an illness.

Simmons is in danger of missing his fourth straight contest Wednesday due to lower back injury management and left calf soreness. If Simmons is ruled out yet again, Reece Beekman, Dariq Whitehead, Tyrese Martin and Keon Johnson should continue to receive increased roles in Brooklyn's rotation.

Simmons will be sidelined Monday for a third straight game due to lower-back injury management and left-calf soreness. His next opportunity to play will be Wednesday against the Pistons. With the Nets facing multiple injuries to its starters and top rotational players, Reece Beekman, Tyrese Martin, Dariq Whitehead and Tosan Evbuomwan should all see heavy minutes alongside Keon Johnson, Ziaire Williams, Jalen Wilson and Noah Clowney.
