Orioles' Cade Povich: Gives up seven runs in loss
Povich (0-2) took the loss Friday against the Reds, allowing seven runs on six hits and five walks while striking out four across 3.1 innings.
Povich had trouble keeping the ball in yard, as three home runs accounted for all seven runs against him, including a three-run shot by Matt McLain in the fourth inning that gave the Reds a six-run lead. Povich gave up more runs in Friday's loss than he had across his three prior outings (six), and he wasn't able to get through the fourth inning despite tossing 84 pitches (of which 48 were strikes). He'll look to bounce back in his next start, tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Nationals.

Orioles' Heston Kjerstad: Smacks another home run
Kjerstad went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in Friday's 8-3 loss to the Reds.
Kjerstad was responsible for driving in the final runs of Friday's game, when he took the second pitch he saw from Scott Barlow deep to right-center field for a 407-foot, two-run home run in the eighth inning. Kjerstad has belted a home run in back-to-back games and has logged two RBI in each of his last three outings. He's begun the season slashing .261/.268/.500 with nine runs scored, three home runs and 12 RBI across 49 plate appearances.

Orioles' Cedric Mullins: Belts solo shot against Cincinnati
Mullins went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's 8-3 loss to the Reds.
Mullins opened the scoring in the second inning, when he took a 91 mph fastball from Andrew Abbott deep to right field for a 345-foot solo home run. It was Mullins' fifth home run of the year, and his 18 RBI is tied with Tyler Soderstrom and Spencer Torkelson for second-most in the American League behind Aaron Judge (22).

Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez: Headed for second opinion
Manager Brandon Hyde said Friday that Rodriguez (elbow/shoulder) will receive a second opinion after getting MRI results back, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
The imaging results haven't been disclosed, but it could be an ominous sign that Rodriguez is immediately looking for a second opinion. The right-hander was rehabbing from elbow/triceps inflammation before experiencing soreness in his right shoulder Thursday, which prompted the MRI.

Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Day off Friday
Holliday is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Holliday will grab a seat as the Reds send southpaw Andrew Abbott to the bump. Jorge Mateo is getting the start at second base and batting ninth for the Orioles.

Orioles' Tyler O'Neill: Returns to lineup Friday
O'Neill (neck) will start in right field and bat third in Friday's game against the Reds, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
O'Neill missed the previous two contests with neck discomfort but will give it a go for Friday's series opener. The 29-year-old has collected an .829 OPS with two home runs in his first 14 games with the Orioles this season.

Orioles' Brandon Young: Confirmed for MLB debut Saturday
Young has joined the Orioles' taxi squad and is scheduled to make his major-league debut Saturday against the Reds, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
The 26-year-old right-hander has made three starts with Triple-A Norfolk this season, posting a 2.76 ERA and 17:2 K:BB over 16.1 innings. Young collected 132 strikeouts across 111 frames between Double-A Bowie and Norfolk in 2024. Kyle Gibson is due to join the Orioles' rotation around May 1, which could point to an additional start for Young next week if he pitches well Saturday.

Orioles' Tomoyuki Sugano: Goes seven innings in win
Sugano (2-1) earned the win against the Guardians on Thursday. He allowed two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out three across seven innings.
It was a strong overall performance for Sugano, who faced the minimum number of batters in five of seven innings. The third frame was his only blemish on the day, when he gave up back-to-back solo homers to Daniel Schneemann and Austin Hedges. It was Sugano's first quality start of 2025, and he's opened the season with a 3.43 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB across 21 innings

Orioles' Heston Kjerstad: Belts two-run homer vs. Cleveland
Kjerstad went 1-for-2 with one walk and a two-run homer in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.
Kjerstad extended the Orioles' lead to four runs in the sixth inning, when he smacked an 80-mph changeup from Tanner Bibee deep to center field for a two-run home run. It was the third time Kjerstad has tallied two RBI in his last five games, and he has two long balls over that span.

Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Smacks first homer of 2025
Henderson went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.
Henderson got the Orioles on the board with a solo home run off Tanner Bibee in the first inning. Thursday marked Henderson's first homer of 2025 and could be a sign that the 23-year-old shortstop is fully past the right intercostal strain that forced him to begin the season on the 10-day injured list. After going 4-for-29 in his first seven games of the year, he has three multi-hit performances with three extra-base hits in his past four contests.

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Belts go-ahead homer Thursday
O'Hearn went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.
O'Hearn put the Orioles up by two runs in the third inning, when he took the first pitch he saw from Tanner Bibee deep to center field for a 393-foot, three-run home run. It was O'Hearn's third homer of the season, two of which have come in his last two games. He's opened the season slashing .326/.404/.587 with six walks, eight runs scored and five RBI across 52 plate appearances.

Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez: Undergoes imaging on shoulder
Rodriguez (elbow) was scratched from a scheduled bullpen session Thursday and sent for imaging due to right shoulder soreness, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
The injury is separate from the elbow/triceps issue that's kept Rodriguez out all season. It's an especially worrisome setback given that the right-hander missed nearly the final two months of last season with a right lat strain. The Orioles should be able to provide more information on Rodriguez's status after the MRI results come back, but certainly he's not going to be rejoining the big-league rotation anytime soon.

Orioles' Tyler O'Neill: Remains out of lineup
O'Neill (neck) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
O'Neill had to be scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to neck discomfort and he will now miss a second straight start while Ryan O'Hearn mans right field. Consider O'Neill day-to-day.

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Homers in win
O'Hearn went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 9-1 win over Cleveland.
O'Hearn extended Baltimore's lead to 6-1 in the eighth inning with a 396-foot blast off Triston McKenzie, his second homer of the year. The 31-year-old O'Hearn has gone 4-for-9 in his last three games, boosting his slash line to .302/.388/.512 with seven runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base through his first 49 plate appearances this season.

Orioles' Ramon Laureano: Launches first homer
Laureano went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the Guardians.
Making a second straight start (his first against a right-hander), Laureano extended Baltimore's lead to 5-1 in the seventh inning with a 393-foot shot off Gavin Williams, his first homer with the Orioles. Laureano could see a short-term boost in playing time with Tyler O'Neill (neck) banged up, though the majority of his playing time figures to come against left-handed pitching. The 30-year-old Laureano is just 2-for-16 (.125) with a .489 OPS through his first 17 plate appearances this year.

Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Smacks grand slam in win
Holliday went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the Guardians.
Holliday provided all the offense Baltimore would need with a second-inning grand slam off Gavin Williams. It's the second grand slam of the 21-year-old Holliday's career and his second home run this season. Holliday, who had been stuck in a 0-for-17 slump in the five games prior to Wednesday, is now batting .216 with a .623 OPS, eight RBI, five runs scored and a stolen base through his first 52 plate appearances this season.
