  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Racks up three hits, steal in win

Henderson went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Athletics. Henderson didn't play Friday, getting some rest for the first time since his April 4 season debut after opening the season on the shelf due to an intercostal strain. The shortstop has four multi-hit efforts over his last eight games, going 10-for-29 (.345) with two extra-base hits in that span. For the season, he's at a .266/.326/.441 slash line, eight home runs, 17 RBI, 31 runs scored and seven steals across 56 contests.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Getting Friday off

Henderson isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Henderson will get a breather during Friday's series opener after going 3-for-13 with a homer and five strikeouts during Baltimore's last series against the Mariners. Jorge Mateo will fill the vacancy at shortstop and bat ninth.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Smacks eighth homer in win

Henderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Mariners. Henderson smacked his eighth homer of the season, and he's really begun to settle in following a delayed start to the year due to an intercostal strain. Over his last 30 games, the star shortstop is batting a .279 (34-for-122) with five long balls, five doubles, 11 RBI, and 18 runs scored. Henderson entered Thursday with a top-notch 55.3 percent hard-hit rate, so perhaps he even has some room for improvement in the power department.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Leaves yard again Sunday

Henderson went 2-for-5 with a homer, a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Angels. Henderson padded the Orioles' lead with a two-run blast in the sixth to put them up 7-2. He now has two homers, four extra-base hits and four RBI in his last three games. Sunday was also his fourth time with multiple hits over his last eight games. He's had an excellent run at the plate since late April and is now slashing .264/.307/.473 with five homers, nine RBI, 18 runs and an 8:38 BB:K in 137 plate appearances this season.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Belts solo shot in Tuesday's loss

Henderson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 15-3 loss to the Orioles. The Orioles didn't have as much firepower as the Yankees on Tuesday, but Henderson managed to supply one run for Baltimore on a solo homer in the seventh inning. It was his third home run of the season, and the 23-year-old shortstop is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak, going 6-for-19 (.316) over that span.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Homers in win

Henderson went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 9-5 win over the Reds. Henderson got off to a fast start, homering in the first inning and tacking on an RBI double in the second. He also drew two walks and, for the first time in 13 games this season, avoided striking out. The 23-year-old appears to be finding his rhythm and is now slashing .245/.286/.472 with two home runs, three RBI, nine runs scored and two steals across 56 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Swipes two bags in victory

Henderson went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs and two stolen bases in Monday's 5-1 win against the Diamondbacks. Henderson had gone just 1-for-13 with seven strikeouts over three games after being activated off the injured list April 4, but he broke out of that slump with his two-hit performance Monday. The talented young shortstop padded his stat line with a pair of thefts, while the double was his first extra-base hit of the campaign. Henderson belted 37 homers and stole 21 bases during the regular season last year, so it's reasonable to expect his initial struggles to be temporary.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: On IL, beginning assignment Friday

The Orioles placed Henderson (intercostal) on the 10-day injured list Thursday. Henderson had been held out of the Orioles' spring lineup since late February due to a right intercostal strain, but he shouldn't be in store for a lengthy stint on the shelf to begin the season. Manager Brandon Hyde said Thursday that the 23-year-old will begin his rehab assignment when Triple-A Norfolk opens its season Friday, according to Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com. Assuming Henderson doesn't run into any setbacks during his time with Norfolk, he could be able to make his season debut April 3, when he's first eligible to come off the IL.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Progressing to live BP

Manager Brandon Hyde said Henderson (side) will take live batting practice Saturday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Hyde admitted Thursday that Henderson is "running out of time" to be ready for Opening Day, but he doesn't appear far off from being cleared for game action. Even if the 23-year-old begins the season on the injured list, he doesn't seem likely to miss much time given where he's at in his rehab program.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Takes batting practice

Henderson (intercostal) took batting practice Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Recovering from a mild right intercostal muscle strain, Henderson continues to ramp up his baseball activities as he attempts to get ready in time for Opening Day. He will surely need to get some at-bats in a game setting soon in order to have a shot to be active for the opener, and it's not clear when that might happen. If Henderson has to miss some time, the Orioles would slide Jackson Holliday over to shortstop and likely use Ramon Urias at second base.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Turns corner in recovery

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Monday that Henderson (side) has turned a corner in his recovery, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Hyde added of Henderson that this is the "best he's felt" since he exited last Thursday's Grapefruit League contest with right lower side discomfort. The expectation is that Henderson should be able to resume baseball activities soon, with a return to game action coming shortly after that.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Should resume activities soon

Manager Brandon Hyde said Sunday that Henderson (side) is improving but is still a few days away from resuming baseball activities, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Henderson is still tending to a sore lower right side, which he tweaked in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against Toronto. The Orioles are hoping that a few more days of rest will be enough for Henderson to overcome the issue, though his return to the spring lineup still may be a week away or longer.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Removal viewed as precautionary

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Henderson's (side) removal from Thursday's game versus the Blue Jays was precautionary, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Henderson's lower right side was a bit sore as a result of landing on the ground after catching a Bo Bichette line drive. However, there are no plans for Henderson to undergo an MRI and the Orioles expect him to be fine. Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief.

Henderson isn't in Baltimore's lineup Saturday versus the Twins, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Henderson has gone 0-for-6 since having his seven-game hitting streak snapped Thursday, and he'll get a chance to rest Saturday while Jackson Holliday starts at shortstop and bats leadoff.

Henderson went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Giants. The 23-year-old is hitting .338 (22-for-65) over 16 contests this month, with nine of his knocks going for extra bases. His rebound at the plate has coincided with him once again being atop the Orioles' lineup. Henderson went deep Saturday, his 37th home run, which tied Marcell Ozuna for the fifth most in MLB in the process. Henderson is on pace for 40 homers this season, which would make him the fifth shortstop in history with 40 or more in a season. Henderson also had a double against the Tigers, and he now has 72 extra-base hits this season, which is the fifth most by an Orioles shortstop in a single season in franchise history.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Racks up three hits in loss

Henderson went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Rays. Henderson played well, but only one other Oriole (Cedric Mullins) produced any hits in the contest. This was Henderson's fourth multi-hit effort over seven games in September -- he's 12-for-28 (.429) with three home runs and seven RBI in that span. The shortstop is up to a .282/.367/.540 slash line with 36 homers, 85 RBI, 108 runs scored and 18 steals through 142 games this season. Henderson's recent success has come since he was moved back to the top of the order versus right-handed pitchers.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Launches homer No. 30

Henderson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Nationals. The 23-year-old shortstop took DJ Herz deep in the first inning, and it proved to be all the offense that Dean Kremer and the Baltimore bullpen would need. Henderson is slashing .306/.358/.490 through 12 games in August, and Wednesday's homer gave him 30 for the season, the first time -- but almost certainly not the last -- he's reached that mark in his career.
