  • Angels' Michael Darrell-Hicks: Relegated to minors

The Angels optioned Darrell-Hicks to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

After joining the big-league squad April 11, Darrell-Hicks gave up five earned runs across 6.2 innings while striking out four batters and walking four. His poor performance will result in him heading back to the minors, though he hasn't exactly stood out in Triple-A either (9.45 ERA and 1.61 WHIP through 6.2 IP). Victor Mederos was recalled from High-A Tri-City in a corresponding move.

  • Angels' Michael Darrell-Hicks: Brought up to majors

Darrell-Hicks was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Darrell-Hicks will replace Ben Joyce (shoulder) in the Angels' bullpen and figures to make his MLB debut in the coming days. The 27-year-old righty has made three appearances for Salt Lake so far this season, allowing seven earned runs in just 6.2 innings.

  • Angels' Michael Darrell-Hicks: Sent back to minors

The Angels optioned Darrell-Hicks to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

Darrell-Hicks received his first call-up to the big leagues prior to Sunday's game against the Guardians, but he went unused out of the bullpen in the Angels' 6-2 win and will now head back to the minors. The Angels have yet to announce a corresponding transaction, but Darrell-Hicks' spot on the 26-man active roster will presumably go to right-hander Ryan Johnson, who is set to return from the paternity list ahead of Tuesday's game at Tampa Bay.

  • Angels' Michael Darrell-Hicks: Summoned to big-league bullpen

The Angels selected Darrell-Hicks' contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

Darrell-Hicks will get his first call-up to the big leagues and will join the bullpen as a replacement for Caden Dana, who was optioned to Triple-A so that he could presumably continue to stay stretched out as a starter. A 27-year-old righty, Darrell-Hicks had given up two earned runs while striking out four over 4.1 innings for Salt Lake this season. He split time between Triple-A and Double-A Rocket City in 2024, logging a 2.60 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 69:13 K:BB over 62.1 innings.
