  The Red Sox recalled Guerrero from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday. He'll be joining the bullpen as a replacement for right-hander Justin Slaten (shoulder), who was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Guerrero had two stints with the big club earlier this season, making four relief appearances while logging a 1.69 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 5.1 innings. Expect the Red Sox to use him primarily in lower-leverage spots.

  The Red Sox are expected to promote Guerrero from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports. Guerrero has spent most of the season in Triple-A, where he has a 4.43 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 16:11 K:BB across 20.1 innings. He's made four appearances out of the Red Sox's bullpen this season and has allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out four across 5.1 innings.

  The Red Sox optioned Guerrero to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. Guerrero was up with the big club for just one day and will be sent back to the minors after giving up an earned run on two hits and three walks over 1.1 innings in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. Right-hander Zack Kelly was recalled from Triple-A to take Guerrero's spot in the bullpen.

Guerrero has appeared in three major-league games for the Red Sox this season and has tossed four scoreless innings while allowing one hit and striking out three batters without issuing a walk. He has a 4.91 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 16:10 K:BB across 18.1 innings in Triple-A this season. Guerrero will take the spot in the bullpen vacated by Sean Newcomb, who was designated for assignment by the Red Sox in a corresponding move.
