The 23-year-old landed on the injured list Aug. 9 due to bicep tendinitis and is ready to rejoin the Twins after a five-game rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul. Lee has been dealing with right biceps tendinitis and some soreness in his right shoulder throughout August and has been on the injured list since Aug. 9. He received a cortisone shot for the biceps tendinitis shortly after going on the shelf and is now ready to begin a rehab assignment. Lee was on the bench for Sunday's series finale with the White Sox and he'll sit Monday as well, which is now understood to be the result of some lingering shoulder soreness. On the bright side, manager Rocco Baldelli said Monday that Lee could have started the series opener versus the Cubs, so he'll likely be back in action soon.
Lee is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.
Lee started in 24 consecutive games after being called up from Triple-A St. Paul, but he's been out of the starting nine in consecutive games, with both absences coming against righties. Austin Martin will cover second base once again and may have vaulted ahead of Lee on the depth chart while the latter player has slashed .174/.259/.174 over his last seven games.
