Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Brewers transferred Mitchell (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
The transaction is merely procedural with Mitchell on track to miss the rest of the season after undergoing left shoulder surgery Tuesday. In a corresponding move, Milwaukee reinstated Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his 2025 debut Sunday against the Marlins.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Out for 2025
Mitchell (shoulder) is undergoing surgery on his left shoulder Tuesday, and the goal is for him to be healthy for spring training next year, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Manager Pat Murphy previously floated the possibility of Mitchell returning late in the season, but he'll instead spend the rest of 2025 recovering and rehabbing from the shoulder procedure. It's another lost season for the 26-year-old, who played in just 25 games before landing on the injured list and has seen action in only 141 big-league contests in the regular season since making his debut in 2022.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Will undergo shoulder surgery
Mitchell is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left shoulder Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
A second opinion confirmed an initial diagnosis that indicated Mitchell will need surgery to repair his left shoulder after the outfielder dislodged some of the anchors from his previous surgery during a rehab game with Triple-A Nashville on June 20. According to Brewers manager Pat Murphy, Mitchell's recovery timeline could allow him to return to action before the end of this season. However, that timeline should become more clear following Tuesday's procedure.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Could need another shoulder surgery
Mitchell (oblique) could require another surgery on his left shoulder after the initial diagnosis was that he dislodged some of the anchors from his previous surgery during a rehab game with Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Mitchell will receive a second opinion before a decision on surgery is made. If he does go under the knife again, he would require 8-to-10 weeks to recover, so it wouldn't necessarily be a season-ending operation. Mitchell -- who missed most of the 2023 season following labrum surgery -- initially went on the 10-day injured list back in late April with a left oblique strain.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Injures shoulder at Triple-A
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Mitchell (oblique) injured his surgically repaired left shoulder during a rehab game with Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Mitchell suffered the injury while diving back toward a base. The outfielder previously tore the labrum in the same shoulder in April 2023 and ended up missing most of that season while recovering from surgery. Early imaging on his shoulder was inconclusive, so the Brewers will pull him off his assignment and run more tests on him.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Moving rehab up to Triple-A
Mitchell (oblique) has been transferred to Triple-A Nashville to continue his rehab assignment, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Mitchell struck out in both plate appearances during his lone rehab game over the weekend with the Brewers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate, but Milwaukee was convinced that the outfielder was ready to move his rehab assignment up to Nashville. The 26-year-old has been sidelined since late April with a left oblique strain, so he'll need a handful of rehab contests to get his timing back at the plate before the Brewers activate him from the 10-day injured list. Once activated, Mitchell should take over as Milwaukee's primary center fielder, which will allow Jackson Chourio to move back to left field.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Beginning assignment in rookie ball
Mitchell (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Manager Pat Murphy previously said the Brewers are hoping to get Mitchell playing rehab games at Triple-A Nashville by June 20, but the team will first ease him into game action by having him play in some rookie-level games. Assuming he doesn't encounter any setbacks, the speedy outfielder could be back in Milwaukee by the end of the month.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Nearing rehab assignment
Manager Pat Murphy said Thursday that Mitchell (oblique) will likely begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville on June 20, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.
Mitchell has been on the shelf since late April due to a left oblique strain, though he recently resumed baseball activities at the Brewers' complex in Arizona. It's unclear how many minor-league reps the team will try to get Mitchell before activating him from the injured list, though he may still have a shot at returning to Milwaukee before the end of the month.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Resumes baseball activities
Mitchell (oblique) resumed baseball activities at the Brewers' spring training complex last week, MLB.com reports.
Mitchell's progress from a left oblique strain suffered in late April has been slow, but he's finally begun ramping things back up. Assistant general manager Matt Kleine said recently that it's possible Mitchell will be ready to return before the end of June, but a firm timetable for the outfielder's activation is unclear.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Diagnosed with oblique strain
The Brewers placed Mitchell on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left oblique strain.
Mitchell was taken out of Friday's game early due to oblique tightness, and an MRI confirmed a strain Saturday. He'll now spend at least the next 10 days on the injured list, opening a roster spot for Daz Cameron to join Milwaukee's outfield group and potentially start a few games until Mitchell returns.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Exits early Friday
Mitchell was removed early from Friday's game against the Cardinals due to left oblique tightness, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Mitchell grounded into a fielder's choice during his lone at-bat in the second inning and was replaced in the field in the fourth. The severity of his injury remains unclear, but Isaac Collins could be in line for some outfield reps if Mitchell ends up needing to miss time.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Sitting against southpaw
Mitchell is not in the Brewers' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.
San Francisco is sending left-hander Robbie Ray to the hill, so Mitchell will begin Monday's game in the dugout while Isaac Collins joins Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio in the outfield. Mitchell has begun the season slashing .222/.295/.333 with one stolen base, seven runs scored and three RBI in 62 plate appearances.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Idle vs. LHP
Mitchell isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Arizona.
The D-backs will send left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez to the hill to start Friday's contest, so the left-handed bat of Mitchell will start the game on the bench. His absence opens a spot in left field for Isaac Collins.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Getting rest against lefty
Mitchell isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Colorado.
The Brewers will keep the lefty-hitting Mitchell and his career .687 OPS against southpaws on the bench with Kyle Freeland set to start on the mound for the Rockies. Isaac Collins, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio will start across the outfield while Mitchell rests.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Sitting versus southpaw
Mitchell is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.
It's southpaw Nick Lodolo on the bump for the Reds, so the left-handed hitting Mitchell will grab a seat. The Brewers are going with an outfield of Isaac Collins, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio in the series opener.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Not in Tuesday's lineup
Mitchell is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.
Mitchell started in center field for the first four games of the season but will sit Tuesday after going 3-for-12 with two runs and four strikeouts. Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Swinging it this spring
Mitchell went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's Cactus League game against the Mariners.
Mitchell has picked up at least one base knock in six of his last seven spring appearances, and since the start of that stretch he has racked up three doubles and a homer. Health has been an issue for Mitchell, but he posted an .811 OPS last season. If he can stay on the field consistently in 2025, his counting stats appear primed to pick up.
