Twins' Austin Martin: Exits with leg injury
Martin left Thursday's game for Triple-A St. Paul with an apparent hamstring injury, Marissa Voss of TwinsDaily.com reports.
Martin was running to chase down a flyball and pulled up in pain before later being assisted off the field with a trainer. He was off to a strong start at Triple-A by hitting .370 with an .870 OPS in seven games before Thursday.

Twins' Austin Martin: Fails to make Opening Day roster
The Twins optioned Martin to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
He lost out on the final outfielder spot to DaShawn Keirsey. Martin had focused primarily on playing the outfield this spring, but he can also play the infield and could return to more of a utility role at St. Paul.

Twins' Austin Martin: Will focus on playing OF
Martin will primarily focus on playing the outfield this spring, Bobby Nightengale of the Minnesota Star Tribune reports. "I want him to be a defensive star out there. I think he has the ability and the work ethic to do so," Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said. Martin started in center field Sunday and went 1-for-2 in is spring debut.
Martin is battling for a reserve spot on the roster, and he could be a key reserve since he can play both center field and second base. He was regarded as a top prospect as the fifth overall pick in 2020, but he hasn't lived up to that billing given his lack of power (.099 ISO last year in the majors).

Twins' Austin Martin: Summoned to big leagues
The Twins recalled Martin from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Martin is absorbing the roster spot of the injured Matt Wallner (oblique). Martin, Manuel Margot and Jose Miranda are options to see more playing time with Wallner shelved.

Twins' Austin Martin: Moves back to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Martin to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Martin has seen his playing time decrease recently, sitting out five of Minnesota's last eight games, and he'll now be pushed off the active roster to make room for Byron Buxton's (hip) impending return from the injured list. Martin has slashed .252/.321/.349 with 16 RBI across 242 plate appearances in the majors this season and could return to the Twins if their outfield depth is tested in the final weeks of the season.

Twins' Austin Martin: Sitting in second straight game
Martin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
Dating back to the beginning of August, Martin had been handling a near-everyday role for the Twins, first as an option at second base before more recently seeing the bulk of the starts in center field in place of the injured Byron Buxton (hip). Though Buxton remains on the injured list, Brooks Lee's (bicep) return from the IL could result in Martin being the odd man out of the everyday lineup. Martin will hit the bench for the second day in a row while utility man Willi Castro checks in as the starting center fielder. The Twins could elect to stick with Lee and Edouard Julien as its main starters in the middle infield, while Castro sees the bulk of the action in center until Buxton returns.

Twins' Austin Martin: Heading to bench Sunday
Martin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Though Kyle Farmer will get the nod at the keystone Sunday, Martin's path to an everyday role in the infield has opened up with Brooks Lee (bicep) recently joining Carlos Correa (heel) on the injured list. Martin had been included in the lineup in seven of the previous eight games, going 5-for-20 with a triple, three walks and three runs during that stretch.

Twins' Austin Martin: Getting fifth start in six games
Martin will start at second base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Martin will crack the Minnesota lineup for the fifth time in six games, with three starts coming in left field and the other two coming at the keystone. The Twins should continue to open up regular playing time for the right-handed-hitting Martin against left-handed pitching, but his opportunities to start against right-handers may be more sporadic.

Twins' Austin Martin: Activated from 10-day IL
Martin (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday.
Martin will return to the big-league roster after a minimum stay on the IL with a strained right oblique. Prior to getting hurt, the outfielder had seen his playing time dwindle greatly and it's unclear if he has a path to more consistent usage moving forward.

Twins' Austin Martin: Out with oblique strain
The Twins placed Martin on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a strained right oblique.
It's unclear when the 25-year-old suffered the oblique strain, but he hasn't played much in July with just six plate appearances through the first week of the month. Martin will be eligible to return for the start of the second half July 20. Matt Wallner was called up from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move to provide Minnesota with some outfield depth.

Twins' Austin Martin: Playing time drying up
Martin is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Martin had previously made starts in five consecutive games at three different positions from June 16 through June 21, but his playing time has since trended downward while the Twins have had all regular members of their lineup available. He'll be on the bench for the fourth time in five contests and will likely see limited opportunities moving forward, unless an injury opens up a path to a starting role.

Twins' Austin Martin: Garnering third straight start
Martin will start in left field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Martin will be awarded a third consecutive start after he reached base five times (four hits, one walk) while scoring twice, driving in a run and chipping in a stolen base between the Twins' previous two contests. The 25-year-old still looks to be a part-time player for Minnesota, though he should have a regular path to making starts against left-handed pitching.

Twins' Austin Martin: Back with big club
The Twins recalled Martin from Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
He's switching spots with Alex Kirilloff, who has been optioned to St. Paul. Martin has slashed just .224/.289/.355 across 30 games at the big-league level this season. He could see some action versus lefties, but the 25-year-old's playing time is unlikely to be steady.
