Ramon Urias popped 16 home runs and won a Gold Glove as a semi-regular for the Orioles in 2022. He was used in a similar role for the American League East champs in 2023, but Urias' home run output was quartered and his defensive metrics also took a major hit. Where that leaves the 29-year-old heading into 2024 is uncertain, as Urias has seemingly already been passed up by some younger, more talented infielders and the organization also has more on the precipice. At his best, Urias has been an above-average hitter with an above-average glove. His fantasy appeal looks pretty limited, though, as he doesn't stand out anywhere and is facing uncertainty about his role.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Urias (neck) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Miami. Urias was a late scratch from the Orioles' last lineup Sunday versus the Rangers. He might not have started Tuesday even if he were 100 percent, as Urias has been in a platoon of sorts with Jorge Mateo, starting at third base on days Jordan Westburg is at second. On Tuesday, it will be Westburg at the hot corner and Mateo at the keystone.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Dealing with neck issue

Urias was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Rangers due to neck soreness, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Urias was originally set to draw the start at third base in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers, but he was ultimately a late scratch. The 30-year-old will look to take advantage of Monday's off day before Baltimore starts a three-game series in Miami on Tuesday.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Scratched Sunday

Urias was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. The 30-year-old was initially penciled in at third base, but Gunnar Henderson was a late addition to the lineup after originally being scheduled for a day off. Urias hasn't been reported to be dealing with an injury, as he's likely just the odd man out with Baltimore's All-Star shortstop entering the starting nine.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: On base four times in win

Urias went 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Rangers. Urias has been steady in a part-time role in July, going 9-for-21 (.429) with seven walks over nine contests this month. For the season, Urias is slashing .247/.319/.387 with four home runs, 14 RBI, 19 runs scored, seven doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 166 plate appearances. There's typically one spot in the lineup for either Urias or Jorge Mateo on any given day. Both of them are right-handed hitters, so it's unlikely either one carves out a significantly larger role barring an extended hot streak.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Not in lineup Friday

Urias is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Rangers. He also was out of the lineup for the final game of the first half, as the Orioles will again go with Jordan Westburg at third base and Jorge Mateo at second. Urias had started five straight contests against right-handed pitching before sitting out this one.

Urias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees. Urias isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs. Urias will take a seat for the second game in a row after making three consecutive starts at third base. Jordan Westburg will shift to the hot corner as a result, opening up second base for Jorge Mateo.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Taking seat Tuesday

Urias is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Draws third straight start

Urias will start at third base and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Guardians. Urias looks to be gaining traction in Baltimore's everyday lineup, as he'll pick up his third straight start Monday and fifth start in six games. The uptick in playing time has corresponded with Urias' surge at the plate; dating back to May 27, he's slashing .293/.349/.517 over a stretch of 19 games. Jorge Mateo looks to be the primary loser from a playing-time perspective from Urias' uptick in starts, as he'll hit the bench Monday for the third time in five games.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Lifts fourth homer

Urias went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Yankees. Urias went deep in the fifth inning for his first homer since June 3. The infielder has hit safely in his last six games, going 8-for-23 (.348) in that span. He had to settle for a utility role early in the year, but he's been staking a larger claim with strong hitting in June. For the season, Urias is slashing .252/.298/.421 with four homers, 10 RBI, 15 runs scored and no stolen bases over 114 plate appearances. He may be set for a short-term bump in playing time if Jordan Westburg (hip) has to sit out more games following his injury Tuesday.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Retreating to bench Thursday

Urias is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta. Urias had started in each of the past four games, but two came while Jorge Mateo was out with a concussion and one came while Jordan Westburg received a rest day. Mateo and Westburg are both in the lineup Thursday and are slated to serve as the Orioles' primary starters at second base and third base, respectively, so Urias' opportunities could become more limited moving forward.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Drawing fourth straight start

Urias will start at third base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against Atlanta. Urias will stick in the starting nine for the fourth game in a row, but his playing time should begin to trend down after Jorge Mateo returned from the 7-day injured list Tuesday. Though Mateo will occupy the keystone Wednesday, Urias will maintain a spot in the infield since everyday third baseman Jordan Westburg will get a rare day off.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Hits third homer

Urias hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in Monday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jays. Urias started the game on the bench but entered in the seventh inning as a defensive replacement. While he hasn't seen steady playing time, Urias is 6-for-10 with two homers over his last five contests. With Jorge Mateo (concussion) on the injured list, it's likely to be Connor Norby in the lineup regularly, but Urias could feature more frequently off the bench due to his strong defense and versatility. Urias is slashing .239/.289/.394 with three homers, six RBI and 12 runs scored over 76 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Homers in victory

Urias went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, two total runs and two total RBI in a 6-1 win against Boston on Wednesday. Urias singled home a run in the second inning and tacked on a solo homer in the seventh. The productive output came in a rare start for the infielder, who was in the lineup for just the third time over the Orioles' past eight games. Urias has struggled to gain traction on offense this season, slashing .219/.265/.344 with two homers, five RBI and 11 runs through 68 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Sitting out third straight

Urias isn't in the Orioles' lineup Saturday against the Reds, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Urias saw an initial uptick in playing time after Jackson Holliday was optioned back to Triple-A Norfolk, but Saturday will mark his third consecutive game taking a backseat to Jordan Westburg. Urias is slashing just .167/.184/.250 across 49 plate appearances this season, and his lack of offensive production has likely caused him to slide down on the Orioles' depth chart.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Checks out of starting nine

Urias is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees. Though he's seen his playing time in the infield pick up of late after second baseman Jackson Holliday was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk last Friday, Urias will head to the bench Thursday after starting at third base in three of the previous four games. Jordan Westburg will occupy the hot corner Thursday, opening up a spot at the keystone for Jorge Mateo.
