  • Phillies' Weston Wilson: Moving rehab to Triple-A

Wilson (oblique) will continue his rehab assignment at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.

Wilson, who has yet to make his season debut with Philadelphia after suffering a left oblique strain in spring training, appeared in four games with Single-A Clearwater last week, going 1-for-10 with four walks, a stolen base and four runs. Per MLB.com, Wilson is scheduled to play nine innings at second base Tuesday, and he could get some exposure to the corner outfield later on in the week while he's with Lehigh Valley. Once activated from the 10-day injured list, Wilson will likely fill a utility role for the big club.

  • Phillies' Weston Wilson: Starting rehab assignment

Wilson (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Clearwater on Tuesday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Wilson suffered a left oblique strain back in late February and is finally ready to test things out in a game setting. Given how much time he's missed, he's likely to require a handful of rehab games before rejoining the Phillies' active roster.

  • Phillies' Weston Wilson: Could start rehab stint next week

Wilson (oblique) faced live pitching Friday and could start a minor-league rehab assignment next week, MLB.com reports.

Wilson suffered a mild oblique strain Feb. 21 and was facing a six-week timetable for his return, so he's progressing as expected thus far. The 30-year-old outfielder should be able to rejoin the major-league roster sometime in mid-April, and he'll offer Philadelphia's lefty-heavy lineup a right-handed bat off the bench. Wilson was effective in a part-time role a year ago, slashing .284/.347/.489 with three home runs, 10 RBI, 13 runs scored and three stolen bases over 98 plate appearances (41 games).

  • Phillies' Weston Wilson: Placed on 10-day injured list

The Phillies placed Wilson (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Wilson suffered a left oblique strain early on in spring training. He will be eligible to return from the IL on April 3, but it's not clear at this point how far along Wilson is in his recovery.

  • Phillies' Weston Wilson: Out six weeks

Wilson was diagnosed with a moderate oblique strain Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Wilson suffered the injury Friday while in the batting cages, and manager Rob Thomson said the 30-year-old utility man will need at least six weeks to recover. With Wilson out of the running for a spot on the Opening Day bench, Buddy Kennedy is among the players that now has greater chance to break camp with the Phillies.

  • Phillies' Weston Wilson: Suffers oblique injury

Wilson suffered an oblique injury Friday while hitting in the batting cage, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

He will be examined further to determine the severity of the injury. If healthy, Wilson has a good shot to win a spot on Phillies' Opening Day roster as a reserve. He's slashed an impressive .288/.375/.490 over 120 plate appearances at the big-league level.

  • Phillies' Weston Wilson: Good shot at final bench spot

Wilson is a strong candidate to win the last spot on the Phillies' bench, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Wilson is a 30-year-old with just 49 games of MLB experience to his name, but he's performed well in his limited opportunities, hitting .288/.375/.490. The fact that he bats right-handed could give him the edge over lefty Kody Clemens, as the Phillies have a lefty-heavy roster already. If Wilson does win a roster spot, the largest role he can likely hope to win at the start of the year is the short side of a platoon in left field with Max Kepler.

  • Phillies' Weston Wilson: Back from paternity leave

The Phillies reinstated Wilson (personal) from the paternity list Wednesday.

Wilson missed two games following the birth of his child. Now that he's back with the Phillies, Wilson will return to a bench role, though he could see occasional starts against left-handed pitching. Wilson owns a .480/.481/.880 slash line over 27 plate appearances versus southpaws this season.

  • Phillies' Weston Wilson: Swipes second bag

Wilson went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Nationals.

The 29-year-old drew his third straight start in left field as Washington sent a third consecutive southpaw to the mound, and while Wilson didn't hit for the cycle as he did Thursday, he still put together a productive effort that included his second steal of the year. Since moving into a short-side platoon role in August, he's gone 8-for-15 (.533) with four extra-base hits, two RBI and five runs.

Wilson went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, a home run and three runs scored as he completed the cycle in Thursday's win over the Nationals.

Wilson tripled to lead off the fourth and also singled in the frame as the Phillies mounted a five-run inning against Mitchell Parker. The rookie outfielder would then add a homer and a double in his next two at-bats, becoming the first Phillies rookie to ever hit for a cycle. It also marked the first four-hit performance of Wilson's big-league career and he's hit safely in four straight games, with at least one RBI in each one.

  • Phillies' Weston Wilson: Delivers three hits in loss

Wilson went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 8-7 loss to the Pirates.

Wilson extended the Phillies lead to 3-0 with an RBI single in the first inning before launching a solo home run off Martin Perez in the third, his first long ball this year. The 29-year-old utility player had gone just 1-for-8 in four games before Friday's outburst. Following Whit Merrifield's release, Wilson should remain with the Phillies in a bench role, and he could see the occasional start against left-handed pitching. He has displayed some power at the minor-league level, slugging 31 home runs last year with Triple-A Lehigh Valley before slashing .240/.340/.487 with 18 homers in 71 games at the level this season.
