Rangers' Jonah Heim: Productive outing in rout
Heim went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a walk in Tuesday's 10-4 victory over the Orioles.
Heim tallied his 13th multi-hit effort of the season. The switch-hitting backstop has been mired in a brutal slump -- he has a .464 OPS across his last 101 plate appearances -- but he should still serve as Texas' primary catcher moving forward. Backup Kyle Higashioka hasn't performed much better at the plate recently, posting a .490 OPS over his last 86 plate appearances.

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Homers Wednesday
Heim went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Orioles.
Heim put the finishing touches on the Rangers' win, launching a solo shot off Scott Blewett in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 7-0. It's Heim's first homer since June 4 -- he'd gone just 3-for-23 (.130) in seven games prior to Wednesday. Overall, the switch-hitting backstop is slashing .230/.266/.380 with eight homers, 22 RBI, 18 runs scored and three steals across 214 plate appearances this season.

Heim suffered a compressed nerve in his right hand on a base hit in the top of the second inning of Wednesday's 4-3 loss. According to ESPN.com, Heim initially came on the field for the bottom of the second, but after airmailing a throw back to right-hander Jacob deGrom on the first pitch of the inning, the Rangers elected to pull Heim from the game. Bochy relayed after the game that imaging on Heim's hand came back negative, but the Rangers aren't yet ready to deploy the veteran backstop behind the plate. Heim will handle a non-defensive role in the series finale while Kyle Higashioka steps in at catcher.

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Exits with hand injury
Heim was removed from Wednesday's game against the Yankees due to a compressed nerve in his right hand, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Heim's hand began bothering him after he hit a ball off the end of his bat in the second inning, and he was replaced behind the dish when the Rangers went back out on defense. The severity of the backstop's injury remains unclear, but Kyle Higashioka and Tucker Barnhart could pick up some starts if Heim needs to miss some time.
