Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Goes 5.1 innings in no-decision
Yarbrough didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Angels, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
After allowing a home run to Nolan Schanuel in the first inning, Yarbrough managed to hold the Angels scoreless until Jo Adell added another homer in the fifth to tie the game 2-2. Overall, it was a step in the right direction for Yarbrough, who had allowed nine runs in just 8.2 innings across his previous two outings. Overall, the left-hander's ERA sits at 3.90 with a 1.17 WHIP and 49:17 K: BB across 55.1 innings this season. Yarbrough is currently lined up to face the Reds at home in his next start.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Mixed results in no-decision
Yarbrough did not factor into the decision in Friday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Red Sox, allowing one run on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts over 4.2 innings.
Yarbrough allowed just one run in the second inning but tossed only one clean inning while throwing only 45 of 78 pitches for strikes. It was a solid rebound after the Red Sox tagged the 33-year-old for eight runs Saturday, though he's now failed to complete five frames in back-to-back outings. He'll carry a 3.96 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 46:16 K:BB across 50 innings into a home matchup with the Angels next week.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Hot stretch comes to crashing halt
Yarbrough (3-1) took the loss against Boston on Saturday, allowing eight runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three batters over four innings.
Yarbrough entered Saturday having tossed two straight quality starts and having posted a minuscule 1.76 ERA across his previous 30.2 innings, but he couldn't keep up that momentum against the Red Sox. The left-hander was doomed by a five-run Boston third inning. Yarbrough's season ERA jumped from 2.83 all the way up to 4.17 as a result of the poor outing, and the loss was his first of the campaign. He'll try to bounce back in his next start, which is tentatively slated to be a rematch against Boston, this time on the road.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Strong against former team
Yarbrough (3-0) allowed one run on four hits and struck out five without walking a batter over six innings to earn the win over the Dodgers on Sunday.
Yarbrough again allowed a home run for the fourth outing in a row, but for the last three starts, a homer has been the only run on his line. He's allowed six runs over 26 innings across five outings since the start of May. For the season, he's at a 2.83 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 40:11 K:BB across 41.1 innings through 13 appearances (five starts). Yarbrough is tentatively lined up for a home start versus the Red Sox his next time out.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Cruises to win Monday
Yarbrough (2-0) allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win Monday over the Angels.
Yarbrough's sixth pitch of the game was taken 440 feet out to center field by Zach Neto. That would be Yarbrough's only blemish in an otherwise stellar start, his longest outing of 2025. He's now at a 3.06 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 35:11 K:BB across 35.1 innings over 12 appearances (four starts) this season. He's tentatively projected for a road start versus the Dodgers this weekend, though the Yankees skipped his turn the last time the schedule allowed them to get by with a four-man rotation, so it's not set in stone that he'll get a chance to face his former team.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Season-high eight Ks in no-decision
Yarbrough didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Rangers after allowing one run on three hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out eight.
Given his fastball velocity is averaging 87.5 mph on the season, it was impressive to see Yarbrough generate 14 swinging strikes. The crafty lefty's eight punchouts were his most in a start since 2022, and he now holds a 3.38 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB over 29.1 innings (three starts) in 2025. Yarbrough should have some deep-league streaming appeal if he stays in New York's rotation for his next scheduled turn against the Angels, who have a paltry .584 OPS versus left-handed pitching through their first 47 games.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Set to start Wednesday
Yarbrough is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
The left-hander last pitched May 11 in Sacramento, so he'll be taking the mound Tuesday with a bit of extra rest. Yarbrough allowed two runs over five frames in that outing while picking up his first win of the season, and he's been a quality swingman for the Yankees early on in 2025 with a 3.70 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 20:10 K:BB across 24.1 innings.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Earns first win of 2025
Yarbrough (1-0) got the win Sunday against the Athletics, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings.
Yarbrough made it once through the order without any damage, but the Athletics tacked on a run in the fourth on a trio of base hits before JJ Bleday led off the fifth with a solo blast to right field. Yarbrough's day ended at 67 pitches, and it was his first time reaching five innings in an outing since Aug. 22 of 2024. Yarbrough's next appearance may be back out of the bullpen, as the Yankees could go back to a four-man rotation this week if they choose. The 33-year-old lefty now owns a 3.70 ERA, 1.27 WHIP an 20:10 K:BB in 24.1 innings this year.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Starting Sunday
Yarbrough is starting Sunday's game against the Athletics, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
The left-hander will make another spot start after Carlos Carrasco was DFA'd on Tuesday. Yarbrough has pitched well as a swingman with a 3.72 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 18:9 K:BB across 19.1 innings. He set season highs with 64 pitches across four frames in his previous outing May 3 and is likely to have a similar workload Sunday in Sacramento.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Could enter rotation
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Yarbrough is a candidate to enter the rotation after Carlos Carrasco was designated for assignment Tuesday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
Boone also mentioned Allan Winans as a rotation option, at least until Marcus Stroman (knee) is ready to return from the 15-day injured list. Yarbrough has been solid in one start and eight relief outings this season, posting a 3.72 ERA and 18:9 K:BB across 19.1 frames. His last appearance was as a starter, and he went 4.1 innings and threw 64 pitches, so the southpaw is already fairly stretched out. The Yankees have a potential opening in their rotation later this week, although they could go with a four-man rotation until next week.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Lasts four frames in spot start
Yarbrough didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Rays, allowing one run on one hit and three walks over four innings. He struck out two.
Pressed into duty when Clarke Schmidt (side) was a late scratch Saturday, Yarbrough gave the Yankees 64 pitches (36 strikes) before exiting the mound with the score tied 1-1. It was the southpaw's first start of the season, and through nine appearances and 19.1 innings he's posted a 3.72 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 18:9 K:BB. The team is optimistic Schmidt will be able to slot back into the rotation early next week, but if his injury proves to be serious, Yarbrough might be first in line to fill the hole.

Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Starting Saturday
Yarbrough will start Saturday's game against the Rays.
Yarbrough will be filling in for Clarke Schmidt, who was scratched from his scheduled start due to left side soreness. The 33-year-old Yarbrough most recently pitched 3.2 shutout innings against the Orioles on Monday, so he'll be pitching on plenty of rest.
