The veteran right-hander wasn't exactly dominant as he induced just four swinging strikes, but he delivered his second straight quality start to help secure his first victory since April 2. Taillon surrendered six earned runs during his season debut in Arizona, but he's posted a 2.80 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB in 35.1 innings across his past six outings.
Taillon did not factor in the decision during Sunday's extra-inning loss against Philadelphia. He allowed a run on five hits over seven innings while striking out two.
The lone blemish on Taillon's outing was an RBI single by Trea Turner in the third inning. It was the first time Taillon threw more than six innings this season while he registered his third quality start. He tossed 60 of 88 pitches for strikes and turned in his first start without a walk since his season debut March 28. Taillon is sporting a 4.01 ERA with a 26:7 K:BB through 33.2 frames. Taillon pitched well enough to deserve his second win of the season but didn't receive enough run support to escape his third straight no-decision. The veteran righty allowed six runs over 4.1 innings in his first start of the year, but since then, he's allowed only eight runs across 22.1 innings while striking out 23. Taillon seems to be rounding into form, and he'll look to keep pitching well in his next scheduled start, which is penciled in for next Sunday against the Phillies, as the Cubs only play five games in the coming week.

It was a nice bounce-back performance for Taillon after he got knocked around for six runs in his first start against the Diamondbacks on Friday. His lone blemish came in the third inning when he gave up a two-run home run to Brent Rooker, but Taillon proceeded to retire 10 of the next 13 batters (including five strikeouts) and finished the game with 19 whiffs across 94 pitches. Taillon's next start is tentatively slated for next week at home against the Rangers.

The Cubs sent out an updated roster after mistakenly including the right-hander on the Tokyo series roster, per Lee. Taillon will be officially added to the 26-man roster following the conclusion of the series due to the unique rules established for this two-game set. The right-hander started an exhibition game Sunday against a team from Nippon Professional Baseball and wouldn't have been available to pitch regardless of his roster status.
