Gibson agreed to a minor-league contract with the Rays on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Before being cut loose by the Orioles last week, Gibson labored over his four starts with the big club, turning in a 16.78 ERA and 2.92 WHIP over 12.1 innings. The veteran right-hander will get a fresh start with Tampa Bay, though he'll first need to show improved performance at Triple-A Durham before getting another look at the big-league level.
The Orioles released Gibson on Tuesday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
The right-hander was designated for assignment by Baltimore over the weekend and has now been jettisoned from the organization. Gibson made just four starts after inking a one-year, $5.25 million contract in March and surrendered 23 earned runs with a 10:7 K:BB over 12.1 innings.
