Giants' Sergio Alcantara: Signs MiLB deal with Giants
Alcantara signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Wednesday and received an invitation to major-league spring training, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Alcantara spent time last season with the Pirates' and Diamondbacks' Triple-A affiliates, slashing .271/.388/.416 across 492 total plate appearances. The 28-year-old infielder will compete for a bench spot during spring training, but he seems destined to begin the new season with Triple-A Sacramento.

Alex Bregman 3B | HOU
Alex Bregman: Undergoes minor elbow surgery
Bregman's agent, Scott Boras, revealed Wednesday that his client recently underwent surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The elbow gave Bregman trouble for much of the second half, keeping him out of some games and limiting him to designated hitter duties in others. The good news is that he's expected to resume hitting in a few weeks, per Boras, and should be 100 percent well ahead of spring training. A free agent, Bregman slashed .260/.315/.453 with 26 home runs and won his first Gold Glove in 2024.

Royce Lewis 3B | MIN
Twins' Royce Lewis: Could see more action at keystone
Lewis could be used more at second base next season, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Lewis made one start at the keystone for the Twins in September, his first there at the major-league level. The 25-year-old has graded out well in terms of range at third base but has struggled with his throwing, so second base could be a better fit. How much time Lewis ultimately spends at second base in 2025 might depend on how the Minnesota roster shakes out over the winter.

Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: Might be tried in outfield
Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns, when speaking Tuesday, didn't rule out the possibility of Baty being tried in the outfield next season, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Baty has played a bit of left field in the minors and was used there for one inning with the Mets in 2023, but he hasn't started a game in the outfield since 2022. The Mets were impressed with how he adapted to second base when used there last season, and it appears the team is aiming to continue to increase Baty's defensive versatility.

Ildemaro Vargas 3B | WAS
Ildemaro Vargas: Becomes free agent
Vargas elected free agency Monday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
Vargas played quite a bit for the Nationals the last couple years, but he slashed just .246/.295/.316 in 2024 and the club didn't want to pay him a raise in arbitration. The utility player will hit the free-agent market rather than accepting an outright assignment.

Alex Bregman 3B | HOU
Alex Bregman: Qualifying offer extended by Astros
Houston extended a qualifying offer to Bregman on Monday.
Bregman will have until Nov. 19 to accept or reject the qualifying offer, but it's more likely that the 30-year-old third baseman will decline the offer and enter free agency. Bregman was named as a finalist for Silver Slugger Award for his 2024 regular-season performance, during which he slashed .260/.315/.453 with 30 doubles, 26 home runs and 75 RBI across 634 plate appearances.

Luis De Los Santos 3B | TOR
Mets' Luis De Los Santos: Goes to Mets via waivers
The Mets claimed De Los Santos off waivers from the Blue Jays on Monday, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.
De Los Santos, 26, got a cup of coffee with the Blue Jays in 2024 but spent most of the season at Triple-A Buffalo, where he hit .260/.375/.441 with six homers over 43 games. He is capable of playing every infield position as well as left field.

Eugenio Suarez 3B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: D-backs exercise option
The Diamondbacks exercised Suarez's $15 million club option for 2025 on Friday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
Suarez reached the 30-HR and 100-RBI benchmarks while slashing .256/.319/.469 in his first season with the Diamondbacks. Now that he's officially locked in for the 2025 campaign, he'll almost certainly retain his everyday role at third base.

Luis Urias 3B | SEA
Luis Urias: Becomes free agent
Urias elected free agency Friday.
He cleared waivers after being removed from the Mariners' 40-man roster and has decided not to accept an outright assignment to the minors. Urias, 27, managed just a .191/.303/.394 slash line in 41 games with Seattle this season.

Armando Alvarez 3B | OAK
Athletics' Armando Alvarez: Dropped from 40-man
Alvarez cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 30-year-old Alvarez posted a .967 OPS in Triple-A across 317 plate appearances in 2024 and reached the majors for the first time, going 9-for-37 with two RBI over 16 games. However, he no longer owns a spot on the Athletics' 40-man roster and will remain in Las Vegas as organizational depth.
